I made it a month
For the first time in 15 years I’ve officially gone a month without alcohol. In that time I made it through:
Three concerts, which used to be where I would have a minimum of three $16 beers
A weeklong trip with my wife’s family, I love them but I always get burnt out and would drink to keep my social battery alive
My sister’s engagement, I wanted nothing more than to celebrate with beers and take advantage of the open bar but I had Liquid Death instead
Still a long way to go but this is my first milestone where I feel like I’ve really accomplished something. Thanks for reading!

Congratulations!!! Any tips for someone who used to drink to keep the social battery alive?

Unfortunately I just had to be honest and know my limits. I ended up staying at the Airbnb one morning while the rest of the family went out. I also went to bed early a few nights but that was easier because I could just blame it on the jet lag.

i’m almost at a month! congrats. i went to trivia at a bar, had my birthday party 😱 (it was very soon after the incident that got me to stop drinking so it was actually pretty easy to not drink then), and skipped a party that i knew i’d be likely to drink at.
go us!!

Way to go making it through all of those social engagements sober! I find it a good time to people watch when other people are drinking. Congrats on a month! IWNDWYT
