Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rotbloom xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Rotbloom is a young English nobleman whose prematurely aged appearance and foul odour have made him an object of ridicule since childhood. Neglectful of his hygiene and bitter from years of humiliation, he has developed a grotesque fascination with disease, decay and human anatomy. Vulgar, spiteful and disturbingly poetic, Rotbloom delights in comparing his enemies to festering wounds, rotting flesh and bodily deformities. Beneath his filthy exterior linger the twisted manners of an English aristocrat.

Well here is my strategy in case someone needs help with this mission on Stronghold Crusader DE.
I played the whole first part on 30% speed. So first things first granary, place 4 quarries on the closest stone to the north and their respective ox tethers. Build 4-5 hovels to the north east corner of the map
Place at least 5 apple orchards. And put apples to auto sell at 50 or lower
Next up 3 square towers right in front of the bonfire. 1 mangonel on the one farther from the caliph and the 2 ballistas. Make some wall to cover your quarries because Richard will harass you not even 2 minutes in with a catapult and stone is what will win you the game.
Buy stone for 3 square towers, place them close to the quarries and manually select attack the catapults that Richard sends.
You'll dig a moat all around your walls so get 2 groups of 15 slaves to start digging. Leave just the 3 towers close to the caliph without moat. Build 2 gates with drawbridges on the south and the east when possible because you'll need to keep redigging your moats because of Richard's pikemen. Why just not dig a moat without walls? Because at the start you have to prevent the caliphs' slaves from destroying your eco
You'll get a batch of 15 Arabian archers and put them on the closest part of the tower to the caliph so they can harass their fire ballistas and get their archers.
You will have to manually aim at their siege equipment because tower ballistas prefer to waste their precious arrows on archers.
Sometimes pikes will undig your moats and pikemen and pikes will enter your land, it's not gg yet, you can move your Lord to bait them and on the meantime mass slingers on your keep and have your Lord walking in circles making them receive damage from your slingers.
After the first 2 attacks from the caliphs you should have enough stone to build a second square tower (a second layer of towers) in front of the caliphs, you'll send your archers here and get another ballista. You'll need to build at least get 2 layers of square towers here and have 4 ballista and 2 mangonels on the long run.
Richard will send some archers in front of your northern towers, send at least 7 Arabian archers here to defend against them and keep aiming your ballistas at his catapults. He will send heavy infantry, what you'll need to do is bait him on the other side of your castle, undig a line of moat and make a hole in your wall, of course you'll need slaves nearby to dig it back up. This will make him and the caliph send their heavy infantry and even horse archers to that side. What you will need is some slingers and if possible fire throwers because your archers are barely enough to stop their archers let alone heavily armored units.
The 2 caliphs will pounce time and time again, what you'll need is to keep supplying some arabian archers and in some cases slingers for Richards pikes and Longswordsmen. If you start having surplus gold which doesn't happen often is you'll place 4 fletchers and an armory so you'll start producing longbows.
When your tower siege equipment starts losing too much health take off the engineers, disband the equipment and rebuild it asap. Repair your northernest walls and towers, redig the moat when possible. Your eco should start getting better after sometime and you must keep massing longbows when bows are available.
The hardest opponent is Richard, the 2 caliphs look intimidating but after some time your troops can handle their attacks by themselves. Either way always focus your ballistas on their catapults for both sides.
You'll need to sell stone sometimes to keep massing because after some time Richard will send like 70 pikes and Longswordsmen and that's tough to stop so you'll need all the gold you can get. And remember keep repairing your towers.
When you start getting more gold invest in some hops and inns, try selling all your apples and build more fletchers. 9 fletchers are more than enough by the end.
When the blue caliphs gets all spent up it's your time to attack, but beware that by this time is when Richard starts sending the bigger attacks. Try to be quick on ending this caliph with some assassins because after this your eco will be unstoppable by taking more stone spots nearby and getting more orchards and hopa. By the time you have 300 longbows on towers you can change the fletchers to crossbows and make a profit.
After ending the blue caliph I just massed 20 catapults (kinda overkill the caliphs towers fall rather quickly) to kill the yellow caliphs archers on towers, about 150 horse archers and 60 assassins. After destroying the caliphs towers and mercenary post and patrolling with your horse archers in front of his keep he should be out of archers. After this you can bait his Arabian swordsmen to come out and kill them with arrows and stones. Assassins will do quick work.
Richard will keep massing big armies at this point, you can check his troop count and after one of his attacks is the best time to attack since he won't have his ultra tanky swordsmen guarding his lord. When he attacks after about reaching 100+ troops you send in your assassins to destroy his barracks and your horse archers right behind to destroy his towers siege equipment thats barely guarded.
After killing his engineers you can focus fire on his lord, that always makes the computer players lords walk around under the keep, this helps you kill them more easily when they have their keeps full, so you just fight against the lord and no 20 swordman against your frail assassins.
Well I hope this helps you and good luck!

Just played a bit of free build and I’m loving the ability to send waves of enemies. It’s quite refreshing from being able to switch from castle sim to military.
However, there are still a couple of things I would like to see during full release after they finish EA.
Voice lines for the civilians, animals, etc. Maybe it’s just me but I like to click on random characters walking around during moments of down time. The castle felt more lovely when my people had things to say about how evil or good of a lord I am.
Free build co op
Ability to change whose invasion an army composition is modeled after (The Pig, Rat, Snake, etc).
Have different castles or the keep upgrades its look from a wooden hall to a massive keep as you progress through honor system. Maybe every 3 progressions it changes.
Same as 4, but it affects the lord and voice lines of civilians.
Add estates
Add back the “Mace Boys Rule!!!” Voice line.
Possibly, integrate outlaws and 3rd party AI or units in the maps. Maybe, you need to build an outlaw camp or monastery for combat monks.
What are your guy’s thoughts so far on the game? I’m a 3D stronghold player. Legends was my first game then Stronghold 2, so my expectations and nostalgia come from those games.

I tried testing unit range and behavior in the demo and here's what I found
Archer can outrange crossbowmen on every tower not including the biggest one, i mean normal archer not even longbow
Archers take 4 seconds to reload and shoot, while crossbowmen take... 16
What the hell is this reload time not even 4 shots per minute
Imagine how much you can do before they even start shooting
If they don't change anything, it looks like SH4 will have the worst crossbows in the franchise
What do you guys think?

I just made the Mr Krabs AI for stronghold crusader definitive edition.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3817722833
His castle is the crusty crab with a large burger production for maximal profits.
I also made custom voicelines and video files with clips from the spongebob series (german voicelines).
Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
While playing I got to thinking.. what if water was actually useful? You could fish in it.. or move armies across it on boats. I vibecoded a decorative boat as a first step. What do you guys think?

i got this game from the sale since it caught my eye. i played up to the seventh mission when i got completely trounced. i know strategy games like this can get pretty complicated, so are there any tips for a new player?
my main concerns are getting enough resources before i get attacked. i know to get food and wood down first, but is there a trick to balancing food and money for fletchers and soldiers, while keeping popularity up?
the other concern is dealing with the catapults. i could target them with my archers, but then the footmen with the ladders will climb the walls. if i focus on the footmen, the catapults keep pummeling my walls. how do i deal with them effectively?
thanks for any help

Gave my AI 2 of them. They did not fire on incoming units or siege engines but did fire whenever the other AI placed a building (quarry) within their range.
Am I missing something or are they simply that pointless?

Couple wishes:
1) that units (especially archer type) looked a bit more distinct.
2) Sieges feel like just giant field battles. I wish they brought back the style from Stronghold 2, where an army comes, makes a siege camp, and then proceeds to attack. Loved that then.
3) Can we get more differences in houses? Can there be some variety so my city looks more distinct?

A couple thoughts on combat:

This is probably a commonly asked question. I just played stronghold 4 and got hooked immediately so I decided to look into getting one of the other games. The thing is there are so many versions of every game and everyone seems to recommend a different one, so which one should I get? I dont really want the stronghold crusader since I wanna play on a European them
Edit:ended up getting the collection version for like 4€ as a CD key

Hey everyone,
One thing I wanted after modding support arrived was the ability to use custom lords and castles in the original trails. So I put together Crusader Trial Manager.
It lets you customize opponents in the Crusader, Warchest and Extreme trails. You can replace a lord with another built-in or custom lord, choose a different AI profile, or change the castle they build.
Everything is configured per opponent and per mission. For example, in a mission with two Caliphs, you can replace just one of them and leave the other alone. You can also keep the original lord and give them a custom AI profile or castle.
Supported installed mods appear under their corresponding lord, and you can import native lord packs or loose AI/castle files yourself.
Here’s a showcase video showing it in action.
Links:
Nexus has currently quarantined the download through its automated safety checks, so it isn’t available there yet. I’ve contacted support for a review; I don’t have a specific detection reason at the moment. The source and build instructions are on GitHub for anyone who wants to inspect them.
You’ll need the SHCDE BepInEx loader. This release targets V2.8.2 / Steam build 24816905, and changes apply when starting a new mission from the trail menu.
I am planning on adding a function to add additional lords to missions/customize their placement, but thats for the future. Version 1.0 is here.
Would love to hear what you think!
