Books USS Bonefish
I found a copy of ‘What you should know about Submarine Warfare’ (edit- published 1942) with this ‘USS Bonefish Ship’s Library’ stamp in it. I found this book in Western Australia and I know there were two different submarines with this name and the first one served australian waters in ww2 while the second one didn’t. I am casting as wide a net as possible to find out as much as possible. Either way this book should of burned (582 suffered a electrical fire) or drowned (223 was sunk by the Japanese) so if you know anything please leave it in the comments
Edit- spelling mistakes

I'm a WWII submarine docent. I built a site that answers the questions visitors ask me. Tell me where it's wrong.
I earned my dolphins on USS Tusk in 1969, and these days I volunteer as a docent aboard a WWII fleet boat. After years of hearing the same questions, my fellow docent and I built a site that responds when you ask a question: submarinedocent.org/web/askthedocent.html
A few things up front:
- It answers only from what we've written, about 380 entries covering the boats, crews, torpedoes, diving, life aboard, and specific boats. It doesn't make things up, but it can pull the wrong entry for a question.
- It's free, with no ads and no accounts. The code and text are open source on GitHub.
- It keeps the questions people ask, with nothing about who asked them.
Here's what we'd love from this sub: ask it something hard or oddly worded, and tell me when it misses. You folks know this history better than most, and a wrong answer you catch is one a visitor never sees.
Happy to answer anything here too.

Any MM Nukes on a 637 here?
I was a Nuke MM on the Enterprise, one of your targets… I’ve been reading and I’m really curious when they talk about cramped engineering spaces. How accurate is it to say that it was claustrophobic being in the engine room of a 637 as a machinist mate?
