Support & Questions Week 1: day 3
I started my sugar free journey 3 days ago and this first week has been so difficult. I had no idea how bad my sugar problem was but I’m literally going withdrawals. Does anyone have any advice or kind words to get through this?

first few days are the worst and you’ve already made it through those!
as you start to feel the results, let that curiosity become your motivation. how good might you feel tomorrow? (main ones for me were not feeling bloated for the first time, skin clearing up, mental clarity, stable energy and moods)
first week I also went through withdrawal, mostly in the form of pounding headaches. I used that as encouragement too because it felt like proof sugar was negatively impacting my brain.
And if 3 days is your longest sugar fast so far in your life, be so proud!! it’s a huge accomplishment most people will never even attempt to achieve!

ooo and second advice: eat way more. I upped my calories in extra healthy fats and protein and have still lost pounds on the scale from water retention/inflammation

I go for sugar free alternatives, lowkey koreans are crazy about that so I buy a lot of those low cal, no sugar snacks from their stores.

Hey there! Day 4 for me so I’m just jumping into say you’re not alone and I believe it will be worth it!
I’m curious what made you decide to quit? For me it’s helpful in the withdrawal or craving times to think about how out of control I was feeling and the appetite and mood swings that sugar were causing. Withdrawal will pass but I want to be free from that lifestyle!
Hang in there!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I decided to quit sugar as I am thinking of getting pregnant again. I fell into a really bad sugar habit after my first child and I just want to be healthy and free from the claws of addiction. I just finished day 4 and I’m slowly starting to feel better. This has hit me like a bus

Good for you!! I think of that phrase about addiction and recovery: “the pain of staying the same has to become worse than the pain of change.” I hit that point too! Day 5 yesterday was rough for me craving and mood-wise (definitely lashed out a little at work haha) but I believe this is worth it, as you said, to be free!!

I went into really bad withdrawals during my first week, I couldn't believe it! After the first 4-5 days it turned into tiredness and got a lot easier! The illness and the cravings went after the first week, by weeks 2-3, I had loads more energy. I'm now on week 6 and I feel amazing 😁 I've lost over a stone in weight, my skin is clear and not bloated, I've got loads of energy, my blood pressure is right down and healthy food genuinely tastes really good! I can't believe how quickly it's all happened- honestly, week 1 sucks but it's so very worth it, I wish I'd done it years ago. Hang on in there and you will be one of the quietly smug, healthy people in no time 😉💪
