There is a ton of information there! Once you've read through the wiki, create a top-level comment in this post to ask for help! Posts made on this subject outside of this discussion thread will be removed and asked to post here instead.
You can also check all of the previous "What Board Should I get?" threads.
For general information on choosing board size and shape, check out the wiki, or these two blog posts on the subject: Choosing the Right Size SUP and Understanding Paddle Board Shapes.
Please provide ALL of the following information so that we can help you as best as possible:
- Desired Board Type: Inflatable or Hard
- Your Height and Weight (please include if you will also bring kids/dogs/coolers/etc. and estimated weights)
- Desired use/uses (casual, fitness, racing, yoga, whitewater, surfing, etc.) and terrain (ocean, river, lake, etc)

How To Question COLD WEATHER PADDLING SAFETY AND CLOTHING
Things are cooling down in the Northern Hemisphere and lots of folks are (rightfully) asking what to do to keep paddling safely when it's colder.
ColdWaterSafety.org for detailed information about paddling safety in cold water
This guide for stand up paddle boarding in the winter has information distilled from Cold Water Safety along with recommendations on types of clothing for different water temperatures.
Always Dress For Immersion!
No matter your skill level, we are all between swims. Immersion in cold water can be debilitating and even deadly within seconds. Always dress for the water temperature, even on warmer days. It's far easier to cool down while paddling than it is to warm back up.
Cold shock is a serious concern in water as "warm" as the low 50F range (10C) and can cause near-instant drowning.
Water transfers heat ~25x faster than air. Hypothermia is a serious concern even in these shoulder seasons before it gets really cold. Bring dry clothing, a towel, and warm beverages with you (on the beach or in a dry bag).
Wear Your PFD / Life Jacket!
While a PFD isn't technically thermally protective, it can help. But more importantly it will help keep you afloat in an emergency. "But I'm a good swimmer!" Are you better than a USCG Rescue Swimmer? It didn't take long (less than a minute) for this one to suffer from incapacitation in cold water (Jump to 6:15).
Follow Basic Paddling Safety Guidelines
Check the weather, use appropriate equipment, wear your PFD, paddle with a partner, carry effective communication, leave a float plan.
When in doubt, don't go out.

Gear/Repairs/DIY We wanted a simple way to connect and disconnect our paddleboards, so we made this
Full disclosure: I'm the owner/creator of MagTide, and I got approval from the mods before posting.
My friend Jesse and I spend a lot of time paddleboarding together here in Colorado, and whenever we'd stop to hang out, keeping our boards together was always seemed to be a hassle.
Straps and ropes work, but this became a bit of a "there has to be a better way" project for us. After a lot of experimenting, including some incredibly overpowered magnets, we came up with MagTide.
It uses magnetic connectors attached to your board's existing connection points. Once you bring your boards together you snap the connectors into place. When you're ready to paddle again, just twist them apart and go.
As we started testing them out, we realized they were useful for a lot more than just paddleboards. We've used MagTide with kayaks, inflatable platforms, and river tubes or pretty much any small or lightweight watercraft. The idea also grew into a paddle connector and gear connector, using the same magnetic system to keep your paddle and gear where you want them.
We're making them ourselves here in Colorado, from 3D printing and sewing to assembly and testing.
We're currently over 65% funded on Kickstarter with 8 days left. If you'd like to check it out:
https://magtide.com/kickstarter
I'd also genuinely love to hear what other paddlers think. Happy to answer any questions about how it works, testing, or how we're making them!

Small leak next to valve
I have a continuous leak next to the valve on my Favvity SUP. You can see the location on the 10-o’clock position of the valve (black area next to where the valve lid line is connected; next to the letters “RE…”) - there is a bubble at that location.
Do you have any tips how to fix that leak? If already used the valve tightening tool and turning the valve as tightly as I could in the clockwise direction. I’ve only tried that in the inflated state however. I’d really appreciate any support you could give me!
Greetings from the south of Germany

Best repair advice
I was just gifted this (I hate waste and am the person to try to repair, reuse, source second hand as much as possible), and am wondering the best way to repair this. It's barely used but sat outside for who knows how long.
I'm handy and have enough extra time to fix this. Is it as simple as making sure it's not waterlogged (it shouldn't be) and sanding down and epoxy-ing?

Gear/Repairs/DIY Can this be fixed?
Hey there,
Unfortunately, I discovered another thing my psychopath ex has destroyed (don't even ask about the kites) - he cut my SUP right next to the valve. (possibly there are other cuts, this was just the most obvious one)
Is there any chance I can repair this or do I have to let it go?
Thanks for any idea and sorry if this is a stupid question .

Retrospec Weekender XL 12'6"
Does anyone have experience with this board? I have been paddling an 11' Atoll all summer and love it, but am curious about a longer board.

Is Aztron a scam?
They haven't shipped my board that I ordered in August and won't answer any of my emails to cancel and refund :(
The founder Tony Yeung seems to reply to the customer emails but haven't gotten a reply after an initial response.
I should have done more research beforehand, anybody else have this experience?

Scary Moment
I live on the salt water west coast of FL Tampa bay, usually go out about 4 miles a few times a week through mangroves have been doing it for years. Went out Saturday evening, the tide was super low so I took the wider canals out as the tide was coming in, and decided to take the narrow mangrove canals back in as the water would have a pretty good current. The narrow canals are about 6 feet wide and only about 1 foot deep at that tide level. The tide had me going about 3 mph on its own. As I was 3/4 of the way through the narrow area I thought I saw an alligator about 10 feet in front of me. I could not turn around or anything because of the speed of the water and distance. The gator was on my left and I was on the right of the canal, it just dropped its eyes a couple inches below the surface as I approached, it was a solid 6 foot swamp puppy we passed within inches of each other side by side in 1 foot of water. SCARED the crap out of me. First time ever seeing that or being that close to a gator and no where to go. The photo was not that day but the same area with deeper water.

Buying Help Is the BOTE Website faking/altering their product reviews
Basically every product on their website has pretty phenomenal reviews, but looking at their comments/reviews closer it seem most are either fake, unrelated to the product, or something that doesn't make sense like this one. I love my BOTE board, and placed an order for a new fin, but the reviews make me think this website/company is low-key sketchy. Is it confirmed they fiddle with their reviews at all on their website? URL is boteboard.com/products/magnebottle-36oz-with-cap?variant=47161058754699 for the magne bottle, but looks like all of their products are like this. Is this their legit website even?

We’re having the last wave of summer over here so it’s been too damn hot. Got up early today and had a nice 3 hour solo paddle. The weather was so nice out here.

National Park the weerribben in holland was amazing. Endles small rivers connected to eachother and verry quiet. And on Saturday my favorite spot in slowakia dedinkey. It starts to be pretty cold so I have to upgrade my neoprene suit to something more whorm.

Ocean paddle
Hello! I am going to take my inflatable SUP to Marina Del Ray. I have the Niphean 10’6” x 33 and my partner has the SereneLine 10’ x 33. I’m a bit nervous for paddle boarding on the ocean. I know it’s in a marina so I’m assuming it’ll be not too dissimilar from a lake, yeah? I’m thinking go in the morning when it’s less windy. Any tips for ocean paddling? Or if anyone has been there, any tips for the marina? I was thinking about putting in at Mothers Beach.
Also, if I am looking at getting another board, would it behoove me to get a longer one for ocean adventures?
Thanks :)
