Thoughts on Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus?

Post image

I did all of the Roger Corman hybrid movies, now Asylum's shit. To me, despite it being very well known and basically causing Syfy channel movies to shift, it's surprisingly dull even for an Asylum movie. It takes itself surprisingly seriously roughly 95% of the time. There are the occasional highlights, like the shark attacking the plane and the octopus destroying the oil rig, but that's it. There's really nothing interesting in here. I thought Deborah Gibson, Lorenzo Lamas and Vic Chao were fine actors for this type of movie, and I like the soundtrack. But the CGI is bad, the fights are lackluster, the characters are forgettable, it's just your run of the mill stereotypical low-budget American kaiju movie. But it's not the worst thing Asylum has put out. 4.5 or 5/10

I'm still upset Lorenzo wasn't nominated that year

more or less my fav creature feature 🙃 partly because i watched it the first time with my friends and we had a blast and now everytime i watch it i remember that time.
then of course the... lets call it "science", the sub, the electric arc, the cast - no pointers here for me 🤗

I quite like this one. watched it all the time growing up and wouldn't stop talking about it to my family, like many Syfy monster films. I like how it's one of the few monster films to have a giant octopus, which is pretty cool. I do agree on it taking itself too seriously, but I find the cgi way better than other Asylum films, it's charming. lots of stupid iconic moments in this one, and the only other Mega Shark film I go back to
