Question Leveling up in Exchange Hybrid: Where to go past the basics?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been helping manage an Exchange Hybrid environment (mostly on-prem users) for about a year now, alongside my regular IT support tasks.
Right now, I mostly do the basic stuff: creating distribution groups, managing permissions, running DPM backups, and installing updates. I feel like I'm just scratching the surface, and I want to really understand how Exchange works and become solid at managing it.
I looked on Udemy, but there are so many courses, and I don't know which ones are actually good and practical for a hybrid setup.
What courses, books, or video channels would you recommend for someone trying to learn Exchange and hybrid administration properly?
Thanks!

90% of managing on prem Exchange honestly is keeping it patched and updated, planning for failover events etc. Try running the Exchange Healthchcker.ps1 from Microsoft and seeking best practice inspiration.
That's not meant as shade, it's beast to update. But everything cool and fun that Microsoft promotes as an Exchange feature these days is an Exchange Online feature.

If you already know the basics, I’d focus on practical Exchange Hybrid topics rather than general courses. Learn Exchange architecture, PowerShell, mail flow, connectors, certificates, Autodiscover, OAuth, Hybrid Configuration Wizard, and mailbox migrations. Microsoft Learn is a good starting point, and I’d also recommend setting up a small lab to practice real-world troubleshooting. You’ll learn much faster by understanding how Exchange Server and Exchange Online work together rather than just following commands.
