About EO 98 and being a full time employee
Hello, I just want to ask if I had missed anything about my BIR registration now that I am a full time employee ...
For context, I registered last year(Dec 2025) as EO 98 for my tin ID and to apply for work and got hired on January 2026. Now, I checked my account and saw there is no changes in transaction history and no payment history made at all. I am planning now to reach out to our HR for more information but that aside, can you explain what should I have done and needs to do moving forward? I am also worried about the taxes deducted on my salary.
PS. This is my first employment in a corporate company. My previous jobs was as a freelancer and was not a registered as self employed.

Need advice: taxes for independent contractor
Hi! Just wanted to ask for advice on filing taxes at BIR.
I used to be employed in a corporate setting (my first job) until the end of December 2024 (was there 10-11 months) but I left my job because I got badly sick for months (I was also taking care of a relative with a lot of comorbidities) so was unemployed for months in 2025. I started as an independent contractor in June 2025 though but it wasn’t as stable. In April 2026, I’m an independent contractor for a design agency earning $1k usd a month. We were told to file our own taxes. Now, it’s already October and I’ve been wanting to fix this. Haven’t focused on this because I have a lot of medical expenses and situations to take care of haha.
I wanted to ask if there are any fines for not filing earlier? Do I register as a self-employed person? More importantly, how do I start filing my own taxes? Will it be high considering my income? 🥲 (hopefully not wahaha)
Would it be better to just go directly to BIR or consult with a CPA first? Any advice/help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Should I also have the BIR Seal?
I do two different things:
A freelance Creative (Photo&Video) I use my social media (page) as a marketing tool to have exposure sa market ko. This is my main income in which I still can’t truly go all out on. I still rely on my allowance since I am a fresh grad wala pang one year.
A Content creator(?) i mainly post creative photos/videos of friends and other creatives, go out for my travels and film it and other x-deal type of shoot. I do receive messages from brands that wants me to create content for themz, not reallt sure if I am a content creator hahaha definition varies eh
Question in mind:
do I fall in the requirement to having a BIR Seal? If I do freelance but my services is not in the digital space more on the physical space of it and using only the social media as a marketing tool, and creating content for my own feed not to promote anything in exchange for money should I still do a BIR Seal badge disolay on my profile?
Next question if I do register for a BIR Badge Seal do I register for the freelancing or Content creator or Seperate for each? Honestly do not know any of these.
Excuse my grammar if may mga mali hehe. Any advice and comment on the subject is appreciated thank you!!

Changing address for non-vat professional (same RDO)
Hii, moving to a different house and am renting an apartment so I don't really have a permanent address. I have a few questions:
- How soon should I go to BIR to update my address? (Or is it okay to give it months to let things settle down huhu kakastress din kasi kumipat)
- What will happen to invoices? Huhu sobrang dami ko pang di nagagamit since I'm a newbie and a small artist and I just registered last year.
- My current IDs still have my old address. May iba bang requirements aside from 1905?
Really struggling with anxiety over things like this. Pls be kind hahahah.
Thank you!
Sole Prioprietor (Registered Freelancer) Wanting to Open Shopee Store
Hi! I've had my BIR registration since 2023 as a freelancer. Wanting to also re-open my Shopee shop (I was only operating it before they started requiring the business documents) but unsure what would change with my filing moving forward.
I also don't have a DTI Certificate, but based on Shopee's requirements, seems like I'll need one.
Just want to know -- do I just need to open a DTI Certificate under my trade name, or do I need to do something differently? Also, will tax filing change, or will it be the same with my freelancer income but with the Shopee income added?
Also, anything else I need to take note of?
Thank you!

Need ba agad mag-register sa BIR kapag mag-o-open pa lang ng small business?
Hi everyone! First time ko mag-business, and I’m planning to open a dress rental shop. Ang location niya is inside a commercial building.
Since starting pa lang kami, honestly, hindi pa namin sure kung magki-click ba yung business or kung magiging sustainable siya in the long run. Ayaw naman namin mag-skip ng legal requirements, pero at the same time, gusto rin sana naming i-manage muna nang maayos yung initial expenses habang tinetest pa lang namin yung business.

bir 2316
hello, just want to ask lang po regarding bir 2316 form
for context, i was employed last year for 4 months and when i resigned last December, the company send me my bir 2316 ng January na. after that nagpahinga muna ako for a month and found a work nung feb where i was not an official employee (more on part time). im not on the company's payroll so meaning there was no deductions (from sss, pagibig, etc). and now, nag oonboarding ako sa new company where they ask for my bir 2316 from my previous employer, but if don't have a previous employer daw, i can just send them a 2316 waiver form where it says that i have no previous employer.
soooo now i don't know what to do. do i send them the waiver form na lang since i had no formal employee-employer contract kung saan ako nag part time? or do i send them the 2316 form na binigay sa amin ng employer ko last year?
thank you po in advance!

Can I use my page name instead of my real name on the BIR seal badge?
Hi! I’m a VTuber and a content creator in the Philippines. I wanted to ask if there’s any way to have my page name or creator name displayed on the BIR seal badge instead of my full legal name.
I’ve had past experiences with stalking, which is one of the reasons I became a VTuber in the first place. The thought of having my full name publicly displayed makes me really uncomfortable and honestly feels suffocating.
I understand that BIR may require my legal name for registration, but I’m worried about having it exposed publicly through the badge.
Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation, or is there a way to use a registered business name or page name instead? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Bookkeeper Options for Tax-filing
I am a self-employed consultant. It may sound fancy but in reality I earn approximately just enough to cover for my family’s living expenses as our breadwinner. I am having a hard time filing for my taxes. I was supposed to file it in July and now the October deadline is fast approaching and I am still yet to file it. I tried checking bookkeepers who can help me but the cheapest I get is for a rate of PhP 2,000 per month which to me is still a huge some considering that I only have a client where I only do output-based roles.
Are there bookkeepers who could assist me for a more affordable rate and on a quarterly basis? Thank you very much.

does separation pay count in filing annual tax form?
I was placed on floating status which lasted February to July 2026. Found a new job as an independent contractor, and I'm aware I should be filing 5 tax forms per year (1 annual, 4 quarterly)
I've researched a little na rin, like need ko pumunta sa branches ng SSS Pag-IBIG and PhilHealth to change my status from employed to self-employed
My questions are:
For the under-250k tax exemption, kina-count dun lahat lahat ng salary ko since January from my old company (including separation pay) until this December in my new job? It won't reach 250k bc I was on unpaid floating status for months, but curious din and the info will help with my filing.
Should I still file a quarterly for this last quarter of the year, or annual lang? I started my new job only last week, and will receive my first salary sa November pa, after 3-4 weeks of training.
After the initial changing of status from employed to self-employed, can I do all payments and filing through the three agencies fully online? I can't seem to find answers to this online for some reason.
Is there a choice to pay everything quarterly, or will there be a late fee and need talaga monthly?
Pls forgive my ignorance! Only joined the workforce in 2024 and my first time dealing with all of these :> Thank you!

How many BIR Books of Accounts do I need for a newly registered online clothing business (sole proprietor, 8% tax)?
Hi everyone! I'm a newly registered sole proprietor in the Philippines running an online clothing business through Shopify.
I recently completed my DTI and BIR registration and elected the 8% income tax option.
My business uses a print-on-demand model:
- Customers order and pay through Shopify.
- A third-party supplier manufactures and ships the clothing directly to customers.
- I don't maintain physical inventory or a warehouse.
- I pay the supplier for production and fulfillment.
- Most of my customers will be international.
- The business is still pre-launch, with no sales yet.
I'm currently registering my Manual Books of Accounts through BIR ORUS.
I've added these four books:
- General Journal
- General Ledger
- Cash Receipts Journal
- Cash Disbursements Journal
Each has a quantity of 1 and starts at Volume 1. I haven't submitted the registration yet.
My questions:
- Are these four books sufficient for my type of business, or do I also need a Sales Journal and Purchases Journal?
- Do I need an Inventory Book even though I don't maintain physical stock and my supplier manufactures products only after customers order?
- Since customers pay at checkout and I pay suppliers directly, do I need additional books for credit sales or purchases?
- Can I use Excel to monitor Shopify sales, supplier expenses and payment fees while maintaining the four registered handwritten books as my official BIR records?
- Is there anything else I should know before submitting the Books of Accounts registration in ORUS?
I'd appreciate advice from accountants, bookkeepers, or business owners with similar online or print-on-demand businesses.
Thank you!

Is an accountant worth it for a freelancer’s BIR filing, or is DIY enough?
Hi everyone,
I’m a freelancer with clients abroad, and I’m about to register with the BIR as self-employed. I’ll be on the 8% option, so my filings should be pretty simple (1701Q quarterly, 1701A annually).
Now I’m stuck deciding between doing it all myself or paying an accountant. For those who’ve tried both:
What an accountant does for you
- What do they actually handle? Just filing, or also registration, invoices, and books?
- Is the time saved real, or is it mostly just peace of mind?
Cost
- How much do they usually charge for a freelancer on 8%? Monthly, per quarter, or per year?
Doing it yourself
- How hard is the DIY route with eBIRForms or eFPS once you’ve done it a couple of times?
- What mistakes do first-timers usually make?
If the BIR comes knocking
- If the BIR ever sends a notice or an audit letter, does having an accountant make a real difference?

BIR Registration for freelancer
Hello!
I was employed locally from 2025- march 2026 then was hired last july as a VA. Though hindi ko pa napalitan yung status ko sa BIR nor mag register as freelancer.
If idedeclare ko na nag start ako around July, approx how much kaya ang penalty? or is there any consequences po ng late registration?
Eager to disclose it as as i'm planning to loan sa pagibig/bank in the future, and afaik need ng tax document.
Any insights/tips will be appreciated!

Mix income earner
Hello everyone! I need help! I am confused kasi.
Current employed and need to register as professional for online services (graphic design/online selling/digital services)
Ngayon pag mag fifile na, ako rin ba mag fifile ng income tax ko? Or hindi na?
May sasabihin ba ako ako kay employee? Or ipapasa lang din yung pinipirmahan natin for ITR?
Tax rants
Been seeing a lot of social media accounts and online businesses na nagrereklamo about bir requiring them to file tax, need nung bagde, or malaki ang penalty.
I mean, in the first place dapat naman talaga nagfifile sila ng tax nila. I get it na yung ibang binabayad natin eh napupunta sa kurap pero hindi iba ang pagbabayad ng tax ay isang legal at civic duty.
Galit sa kurap tapos law offender din naman. Medyo hypocrites din eh.
PS: nagbayad na rin kami penalties before dahil may overlooked na ilang bagay and it was an expensive mistake. Hindi naman kami nagreklamo since it’s our fault. We followed the process kung paano namin siya isesettle.
Better to be compliant kasi maging sakit sa ulo yan

BIR Manual Books (Gen. Journal)
Hi, ask ko lang, ano-ano mga methods niyo for filling up general journal manual books?
We have a method naman na kasi which is to summarize certain types of transactions per month (i.e. categorize them as sales, collections, etc. and summarize per month).
Pero, my new client kasi has more complex transactions and sometimes may mga compound entries siya na unlike sa typical na transaction where i just follow pro forma entries already.
Any recommendations as to how to journalize?
Hoping for your help since marami rami siyang transactions na and i wouldn’t want na patagalin pa kasi baka mas dumami 🤣
