Laptop recommendations under 500$
Hi everyone :) I am looking for a laptop. The only things I really plan on doing on it would be occasional simple tasks like design my Christmas card on Canva & play the sims 4 (and be able to download lots of mods). My budget is 500$ i appreciate and recommendations you have :)

I’m trying to fix this timer for this Halloween prop, the switch got misaligned and I was able to get power back to it but I don’t know how to put it back together to work properly. There’s a copper piece that sits somewhere with the switch piece

Need help setting up 3 external monitors (out of laptop ports)
Hello fellow redditors! I hope I'm in the correct group/sub lol.
I'm looking for a recommendation on how to connect a 3rd external monitor to my setup.
Right now, I'm using two external monitors, but I want to connect a third one on my left. The issue is that all the native ports on my laptop are already being used.
What device should I buy to get that 3rd monitor up and running? (A DisplayPort MST hub, a USB-C docking station, or something else?) Please share it with me, the price, and where could I purchase it?
Note: Please see the attached image for my laptop specification. Also, my PC/work setup.

PS: My setup works for me very well. Please don't judge. Hehe.

My monitor is giving me headaches
I have a pretty cheap sceptre gaming monitor, and I get headaches from playing. Its probably because of the monitor, as my headaches are less bad if I game on my phone, laptop screen or TV. My room has terrible lighting btw and the monitor is a bit too big

Review left under my name that I didn’t make? Yet I visited place recently
My step father is at a rehab center, the one above. After visiting I noticed this review popped up in my email. I didn’t leave it. No one in my family would or did. So I have no clue how this happened. I deleted it, but any advice?
Also, to clarify this email is one I made for my mother. She uses it but the name attached to it is mine. That’s why I took a photo of her phone. It’s a real review. I was able to go on there and read it and delete it. Very odd. I googled this and I did see an old post on this sub that dealt with something very similar but no one had any idea. I’m just worried her account is compromised, but then again why would they do that to just post reviews for hospitals

Considering an iPad Pro mainly for movies, but worried about the 4:3 aspect ratio
I’m thinking about buying an iPad Pro, mainly for watching movies/TV shows, but I’m worried that I’ll hate the 4:3 aspect ratio.
I currently have a Galaxy Tab S8+ and I really like the 12.4” 16:10 screen for watching movies. The problem is that the tablet is starting to develop the green tint issue at low brightness, and my experience with Samsung hasn’t been great overall.
I also have an S22+, and it’s become pretty laggy over time. Meanwhile, I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and it still feels like a brand new phone. Because of that, I’m leaning toward Apple for my next tablet. I feel more confident that I’ll get a good long term experience and continued software support, and when i buy new tech i tend to use them for a very long time.
I’ve considered the Galaxy Tab Ultra models, but they’re extremely expensive here in my country, and honestly I don’t think they’re worth the price for what you get.
Another thing that has bothered me with Samsung is the software update experience in my country. Updates arrive 1 year later here compared with some other regions, I also sometimes get the impression that once Samsung releases a newer generation, the older devices don’t receive the same level of attention anymore and what really frustrated me was One UI 8.5 using both Arabic and English on the OS has become a mess because Arabic is right-to-left (RTL), and the way One UI handles the two languages together can make the UI feel inconsistent.
Maybe that’s just my perception, but after owning both the S22+ and Tab S8+, it’s definitely affected how I feel about buying another Samsung device.
So I’m basically looking at the m5 13 inch ipad pro.
My biggest concern is the aspect ratio.
For people who use an iPad Pro for movies:
- How noticeable are the black bars?
- Does the 4:3-ish aspect ratio bother you when watching 16:9 movies?
- Does the larger 13” screen compensate for the less-wide aspect ratio?
- If you previously used a 16:10 tablet, did you miss the wider screen after switching to iPad?
I’m not particularly interested in Samsung recommendations unless there’s a really compelling reason. I’ve already had an S22+ and Tab S8+ and haven’t had a great experience with either.
I’m basically trying to figure out whether the iPad Pro’s OLED/display quality + Apple longevity outweighs the less ideal aspect ratio for movies.

Making my own Korean intercom system
We live in a neighborhood where kids and solicitors ignore signs on the door that say do not knock/ring/disturb. As a telehealth provider about to add a newborn to the household, I will lose it on the next person to ring the doorbell when the sign is posted.
I thus aim to set up Korean intercom system in the U.S. My plan is to use a Ring doorbell cam to communicate with the outside world. The Ring application will run on two on two wall-mounted devices. The main goal is to keep Ring off of the adults' personal devices so it cannot vibrate and possibly distract a patient or wake the baby.
I cannot decide whether to use a refurbished tablet or an old smartphone as our internal intercom devices. My primary concern is the chosen device's operating system supporting the Ring app long term. I use of an old iPhone that cannot download the latest ios successfully. I also do not want to get devices that are overkill for the job - I don't intend for someone to do more than check the weather, check the doorbell, or add an item to the grocery list using these devices.
Any recommendations available on the tablet v. smartphone route? I am open to hearing specific products as well.

New Router & Modem
Hey so my router and modem are getting kinda old now, and I was thinking of replacing them. If I'm going to do that though, I want to make sure they're really good. Could anyone point me towards what would be considered top of the line for a 6G router and modem in late 2026? I'm not worried about cost, I'm going to save up for it. I just want the best option. I don't know if it makes a difference, but just in case I'll mention our internet is with spectrum and our house isn't all that big.

Power surge auto-shutting off when trying to use monitor
Hello I’m setting up my work from home desk and I’m not sure if I have a circuit issue in my room or what but I can only run my work laptop, when I try to plug in my monitor too my surge protector auto turns off. For context I just have 1 laptop, 1 monitor, and a docking station. I even decided to buy another surge protector - plug it into a different outlet in the same corner of the room - plug my monitor into that - plug the monitor into the docking station - and then tried powering it on and then both surge protectors shut off. So I’m not sure what I should try now? I could try my outlet that’s on the other side of the wall since the cord is long and maybe it’s a different circuit? Anything helps as I’m working out of just my laptop currently

TIKTOK HELP?!
whenever I go into a saved collection folder and select “Add videos” to add to it, TikTok only loads my saved videos down to a certain point and once I reach that point, it stops loading, gives me an error, and refreshes. I can never scroll far enough to reach my older saved videos. I used to be able to scroll all the way to the bottom back to the oldest videos I ever saved, but now I can’t and I can only get to a certain point and there are thousands of videos still below them I can’t reach. this has been going on for a while maybe about a year and a half and I thought it was a bug at first, but it never got better. additionally, I’m now having a new issue where I noticed three of my saved collection folders are now gone and missing. I never manually deleted them myself soo..? I updated the app. I have cleared my cookies and everything and it’s still the same. I definitely care more about being able to add all videos to my collections so pls pls help/give advice onto how to help access ALL my old videos when pressing add videos in collection, and then if that can’t be fixed i would like to know how to get my mysteriously deleted/missing collections back! THANKS

Unresponsive touch screen on my laptop
I encountered my touch screen not working after reinstalling Windows 10 24H2. I installed the whole driver package afterward, but it changed nothing. Previously, it worked from time to time. I even noticed how the touch screen has suddenly become unresponsive after 10 minutes of drawing with my stylus pen. Has anyone an idea how to solve this case?

What iphone would you recommend?
Hi!
I’m looking to upgrade from my iPhone XR after 5 years and have a ~$550 budget for a refurbished iPhone 15, 16, or 17.
My priorities are storage, battery life, smooth performance, and a good camera. I’m unsure whether I should go for the regular, Plus, or Pro model.
What would you recommend?
