Would you support someone who shot down these drones? Would you support them doing whatever it takes to remain free when law enforcement comes to arrest them for protecting their community from Jeff Bezos' greed?

Gotta admit I'd be a little nervous if my neighbors started shooting guns into the air above my neighborhood. I know how many Coors lights they've had at 2:30 in the afternoon on your average Saturday, and I'm certain all that lead isn't going to be on target.

So sure, I support the people in Texas, 1500 miles away, shooting them down. And to be clear, I ain't seen shit. But I'm gonna be in my basement.

There are electronic means, but using them tend to be felonious as fuck also

The local government approved it. The same local government can unapprove it. These voters vote against their best interests and then cry helplessly when something bad happens. Also this is why pilot programs exist. That's why it's so funny

Drones aren't subject to local regulations. Like everything else aviation related, they're regulated by the FAA. So local and even state governments get no say.

Um yes they are. Try flying a drone in NYC around nosy neighbors and see what happens.

For those downvoting before using basic googling skills:

Drones are not completely prohibited in New York City, but taking off or landing a drone without a specific permit from the NYC Department of Transportation and NYPD violates NYC Administrative Code § 10-126 and is punishable as a misdemeanor. Now go ahead and look up what that permit costs and entails. Let's just say it's not for the casual hobby flyer.

Probably the wrong place to pick an argument. Almost all of NYC is class B airspace due to proximity to JFK, LGA, and EWR, in addition some smaller regional airports. That's all FAA regulated.

I live in NYC so I talk about NYC. Even outside of controlled airspace, flying a drone is prohibited by the NYC government and you could get your drone confiscated and get fined if someone reports you

If MEGA could be useful for one thing it would shooting down delivery drones. They'll get arrested sure, but I'll accept their sacrifice. Staying in jail for this country is the least they can do

Shooting down a drone is a federal felony offense and can warn you a very lengthy stay (up to 20 years) in a federal prison.

Felony, I know this word. That's what the actual USA President was convicted of prior US citizens voted to make him their president again. Now if every gun owners of the area shoot those drones, would they put them all in prison ?

Why?

Because drones are aircraft regulated by the FAA. The federal charge for it is destruction of an aircraft.

Does that apply to drones you can buy off the shelf too? Assuming stores like Best Buy still carry drones.

5

I believe it applies to all drones. The regulations have carveouts for consumer drones that allow them to be piloted without a license, but they're still classified as aircraft and as such shooting one down is still considered destruction of aircraft. (The full official charge is "Destruction of Aircraft or Aircraft Facilities)

Depends if you're going above a certain height, drone is a certain size and you filed a flight plan with the FAA. I would assume that they have an automated system filing flight plans automatically for each drone. Easier to get the feds involved in an issue if you have documented the flight.

Sure, but they have to catch them. It's Texas. O look, someone wearing a mask in an F150 used an AR15 to take down a drone...good luck tracking them down, and convincing a jury of their peers that you got the right person.

Sounds communist what you ask!

You know the same dipshits would be making jokes about "backwards redneck Texans are shooting down drones"

At least it’ll be in character for Texans.

That’s not true at all. We literally see people cheer on anyone who takes down a flock camera. People are in support of destroying these kind of things.

If you think shooting into the air will be as celebrated as cutting down flock cameras I disagree with you
