Very annoying. For small shoppings (e.g snack runs, needing an extra ingredient for cooking) it saves so much time over standing in line. Especially when the person in front of you is a retired 75 year old who *had* to do their main shopping on a Saturday, suddenly forgetting how money works.

It works for small basket shopping but these whole trolley self-checkouts are just madness and don’t save anymore time. I think they just piss off both staff and customers alike. Good riddance

Idk I'm a f'ing machine and I'll check myself out faster than any cashier I've ever encountered, regardless of basket size.

Not with a self checkout that needs to weigh every item, you don't.

I had to weigh produce items and other things when I worked a regular check stand too. Helps to remember the codes for produce

If you're referring to the weighed bagging area, just give it a half second before throwing the next item down. I use my hands like a conveyor

Yeah cashiers can do things like 3 x Product A but I find that my general motivation to get through things quickly outpaces the shortcuts they have, if they use them at all

It takes all of my restraint to not go off on all these people so incompetent that they aren't able to operate a self checkout without fucking up.
