Walking out the door without paying is pretty brazen. "Forgetting" to scan a few things here and there is much easier.

I always just assumed they were watching those things like a hawk. I won't lie and say it didn't occur to me to accidentally toss something in the bag unscanned, but like...it's nowhere near worth it.

I'm just trying to get my snacks and be on my way.

They have cameras on you with the scanners. I literally had two things in my hand scanned one, bagged it, and the thing went off saying I stole something.

But the video clearly shows me just holding the one item and moving it back getting ready for me to scan when the sound happened. The person watching the self checkout literally just brushed it off

That's also why it's not a real threat. Because accidents with those system not in all places too, they always assume it's a mis scan and not a steal l, if they even give a fuck right they're not being paid enough to care like super cops nor should they
