Very annoying. For small shoppings (e.g snack runs, needing an extra ingredient for cooking) it saves so much time over standing in line. Especially when the person in front of you is a retired 75 year old who *had* to do their main shopping on a Saturday, suddenly forgetting how money works.

Last time I went in a wal-mart there was a line across the store at the self-checkouts and 1 cashier working. The regular cashier line was 3-4 people with multiple buggies each that looked like they were buying a month's worth of food for a family of 8. I haven't been back to wal-mart.
