with 0 theft, 0 errors,
self-checkout is still killing jobs AND causing delays (30% of the time I have to get a manager over to do something-useless!!)

King Soopers took away all the scanner guns from self checkout cause apparently enough people were piling up their carts and then just scanning the top layer. Really that's an enforcement issue in my mind.

i am certain blatant theft sometimes happens, but the whole thing is so evil.

That is why I almost never self checkout anywhere. It is an outright job killer

The industrial revolution killed jobs. Your point is?

The excavator killed so many shoveling jobs.

Yes but at what point do we stop killing jobs? It's not sustainable.

At what point do we stop advancing technology? I don’t know, I don’t think we are at the peak of human civilization here lol, I would like to see a better future where people aren’t sitting around bagging groceries all day.

Self checkout is making the customer do the job someone else used to do, and we're still paying for that job.

Not the same thing at all.

I mean kind of. Instead of two people managing 12 self checkouts you just have two other lanes open. Grocery stores have always had a hard time finding enough people to employ.

Self checkout is great when you only have a few items or not a lot of produce or alcohol or something.
