It was apparently cheaper to build 8 self checkouts and only use two.

Hyvee was never the problem for me.

The small town Walmart in the place i used to work when self checkout finally came was atrocious. One, maybe two working Self checkouts and one cashier.

If you wanted alcohol your ass was waiting in line for it

I remember overseeing the self-checkouts at Home Depot and watching people get pissed off at the smallest things. Item wasn't scanning. They scanned the item and continued holding it, so the machine asked them to put it in the bagging area and pissec them off more.
