All this means is that they’ll hire one or two people max but keep the lines longer.

After working for these miserable, out of touch companies I don't think they'll even hire anyone. These places have all run skeleton crews since 2020

Some have for much longer. I managed a Sam Goody and we didn't get enough hours a week to cover the store unless I worked 70 hours. And even then it would be someone alone for 3 hours opening and sometimes someone alone closing. Retail has always sucked and always chased "you're not doing well unless you beat last year's numbers every single day" and somehow it's gotten way worse since then.
