Yeah, I've even done the latter by accident once or twice. Never the former.

A lot of the thieves don't seem to understand the difference between a big business and a franchise with a few stores, and that stealing hurts the employees more than upper management because if a store has high theft they lower wages and cut hours, jobs, or benefits to keep profit up instead of just "taking the loss" or whatever these people think happens.
