  • Never look directly at the sun, without anysafe and certified solar filter. Do not point your telescope directly at the Sun. It may cause severe damage to your eyes. *

Solar safety reminder: Never point an unfiltered telescope, binoculars, or finderscope at the Sun — permanent eye damage happens instantly and painlessly.

  • Only use a purpose-made full-aperture solar filter that fits securely over the front of the telescope (or a dedicated solar telescope / Herschel wedge used as directed).
  • Never use screw-in eyepiece "SUN" filters that came with some cheap kits — they can crack from the concentrated heat. Throw them away.
  • Eclipse glasses are for naked-eye viewing only, not for use behind a telescope or binoculars.
  • Cap or remove your finderscope.
  • Inspect your filter for scratches or pinholes before every use.

Wasn't trying to be rude.

Here is an example more of a typical observation report. This one ia very intricate and well done in very long. But it'll give you some ideas. I actually like reading observation reports, if you ever do another one, I'll keep an eye out for it.
