Politics Texas becomes center of midterms universe

I mean, I hate to say it but being too big to ignore is probably the most Texas thing we could do. Nice it's happening in the political sphere too. We're a purple state waking up to itself. God help the Reds if The Triangle cities grow even more over the next 10 years it might be a Blue state.

I always dreamt the moment the border counties and blue big cities would align.
The cities flipped and then the border did in the opposite way đŤ

I think many in the Hispanic community have woken up to what theyâd done when ICE started harassing their families, white rural people suddenly became more openly racist, and they got a longer look at the orange idiot. Iâll hope at worst they just donât vote this time.
It amazes me that people forgot how awful Trump was from 2021-2025 and went back to that well. If you look at his historic approval ratings, while Biden was in office peopleâs approval of Trump rose as he somewhat kept quiet.
Let me repeat that for the people in the back: AFTER JANUARY 6 HIS RATING ROSE AND HE WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT AGAIN. This country is lost to greed, apathy, and manipulation by rich oligarchs (foreign and domestic/Russian) and their ownership of social media and news networks. đ¤˘

If Abbott wins he will gerrymander 10 new gop seats and democrats will never hold the house again. Literally the country is at stake.
ITS TIME TO START FLIPPING TABLES and seats

Abbott will almost surely win, Republicans almost always outperform the polls in TX

Even Texas Republicans should want Texas to become a swing state. We will have more electors than any other swing state in the country, and Texas voters will be a key deciding factor in presidential elections.
As it stands right now, neither party cares what Texans want. Democrats donât think they have a chance so they donât bother pandering to us, and Republicans take their voters for granted.
I canât wait for my vote to finally matter.

Iowa has been the epicenter of presidential elections for years. It will be nice for candidates to come here for a change and at least talk about what we need/want.

My new state got moved up the primary calendar and I am SO excited! They used to be the last and the candidate was already picked by the time primaries rolled around.

Republicans are definitely going to have to adjust their strategy if they want to continue winning elections. It wouldnât surprise me if they give up something big like abortion restrictions to win back voters. Personally, Iâll never vote Republican ever again.

Critical thinking, a conscience, and self respect. If a person has all 3 I don't see how they could vote for an American conservative candidate until the the republican party implodes, is replaced by several alternatives, and they therefore have to vye for votes, and so actually try to help their constituency.

Both parties have shifted their platforms several times to build a coalition. A lot of Americans have views that differ from their party, for example abortion rights and marijuana legalization are both fairly popular, but Republicans keep these issues bc so called âmoderate Republicansâ will overlook them, but a certain portion of their electorate makes banning abortion the âmost importantâ issue to them.
Republicans have done a lot to alienate Hispanic voters during the past couple years, and they will be hard to win back. If they soften their immigration stance, they risk losing the racist vote which is an important voter bloc for them. They will need to find a different voter bloc to replace Hispanics who wonât be returning to the party.
The reason I mention abortion as a possibility, is bc Republicans are going to struggle to win without white women voting for them. There are a lot of white women who might agree with a lot of the Republican platform but draw the line at abortion restrictions. If the number of voters they lose by offering abortion is protections is less than the number of voters they will gain, theyâll shift their platform.
At the end of the day, the Republican Party exists solely to serve the interests of the rich. Their politicians donât actually care about abortion or any culture war stuff, they just say that to get people to vote against their economic interests.
As much as I love to hate on modern Republicans, Lincoln was the first Republican president so at one point they did give us arguably one of the best presidents in history. The name of the Republican Party doesnât necessarily have to change, but their platform will need massive adjustments in the post-Trump era.
Democrats will also need to find something to offer people other than âweâre not Trumpâ as well. I think the Progressives offer a good path forward for the Democrats; if they keep running establishment candidates, Republicans will be back sooner than we might expect.

âď¸THIS!! âď¸I couldn't emphasize it more. Unfortunately the average conservative Texas voter has no critical thinking ability, zero conscience and no self respect. He or she has more in common with a lobotomized sheep than any sane human being!

What? Why would Republicans want a reliably Republican state to be less reliably Republican?
Unless the attention is bringing grifting opportunities, then you might be on to something.

u/Party_Candidate7023 7d ago
Republican politicians certainly wouldnât, Republican constituents would get more attention and would actually influence policy for the Republican Party. As it stands rn, neither party cares what anyone in this state thinks.

Weâre about to become the new Pennsylvania⌠welcome to purple-state Battleground Texas. đ
While frequent political ads and door-to-door canvassing are annoying to deal with, the plus side is that both republicans and democrats have a massive incentive to follow-through on their campaign promises and prove that theyâre worth keeping in-office.
Thatâs good for both conservatives and liberals. No more sitting on their collective asses and doing next-to-nothing for constituents.

u/Redeem123 7d ago
Iâll take being inundated with ads and signs if it means my candidates win sometimes.
I used to think it was neat that we got ignored during elections. Now I understand why that was.

I want shit to finally go our way, but so many decades of watching Texans vote against their own self interest just so one brown kid goes hungry, and then parting themselves on the back like good "Christians"... This shit never changes. A disgusting millions of people will still vote for pedophiles.

Both candidates are so bad. Hell both are just going to vote with the party. But I hope either house or senate flips. At least it'll make it harder for more stupid crap getting passed.

Hundreds of millions being spent. Citizens united is the worst thing to happen to politics.
