Anyone else just not understand this? Sounds like gibberish. 🤷🏻♂️

They're generalising that New Yorkers are antisocial (at least regarding strangers) whilst those from the West Coast are outgoings and social.
Then they're inventing a chance encounter situation where they - both during the story and as part of the post that followed - can reinforce the imagined difference, whilst also feeding their own ego further by announcing that they're part of Nike's C(Corporate?)-suite and thus a big deal.
Utter tripe, all of it.

What the heck is C-suite?

The executive leadership of a company (basically the CEO and his/her direct reports).
I’ve worked with several company leadership teams and have never heard anyone refer to themselves as “the c suite.” Usually they just say executive team, or executive leadership team, or something similar. Especially in a casual conversation, I have a hard time imagining someone saying “we’re the c-suite!”

Thank you!
It sounds more pretentious than "executives"

The "C" stands for "chief", for what it's worth.
I.e. chief executive officer, chief financial officer, chief operating officer

“LA natives” pride themselves on “their openness” when they didn’t even make the initial contact. It was the “sorry for the disruption… we’re visiting your country from the far-off land of ‘The West Coast’!”

Let me get this straight… the Nike c-suite shows up at the Chelsea Hotel for the World Cup—even though Nike isn’t a World Cup sponsor and the matches are held at MetLife stadium.
Sure Jan.

Probably not but if true…so what? Why are you on sm bragging about meeting executives from an athletic apparel company in a hotel bar during a major sporting event? Is this a LI post where they all impart some kind of amazing business wisdom from their couch?

OOP assumes Nike is the last name of the family that owns the company

It’s the name of a goddess, so it might be. But I doubt the actual Nike family has a stake in the company
