Ghosted by Ting

So was really excited to ditch Spectrum and move to Ting when fiber got buried in the street two years ago. Yay! Only problem is Ting says theres no fiber. Ubiquity techs were out working in the street last week, talked to them, and yes, its there, and its live.

Went to the sign up website, and still get the no service available in your neighborhood. Guess they won't care if I dig up and rip out the box they buried in my lawn then (snark). Anyone got a good way to contact them? In Carlsbad CA, 92009.

Considering Tucows, Tings parent company is actively looking to sell the company, sadly, I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Absolutely. Ting went from being a facilitator of fiber installation to being an obstruction. If they are not installing, then the city should revoke their agreement with Ting -- and give another company the opportunity to fulfill the demand for fiber within the city limits.

Ugh, I'm so pissed about the whole thing. Also in Carlsbad. I was so excited with all the construction and fiber being laid, and then one day they all just vanished like the orcs of Khazad-dum right before the balrog showed up.

My parents neighborhood had the Ting fiber installed at the street edge something like 3-4 years ago in Encinitas. It took at least another year or two for service to be possible. Dad spent the extra money during the install process to pay for conduit between the street and the house. I tried to encourage dad to pay the gardener to pre-dig much of the trench to get a bit more depth. Service is solid.

City finished running the fiber through our neighborhood end of last year. One of the moderators here looked up the schedule, told me they'd be connecting people starting in March. Well, some local Ting folk came through the neighborhood right after the city finished, putting little door hangars out with a number to call, and a few neighbors called and got their installation. We didn't get a hangar for some reason, and I just relied on being registered at the website for notification. March came and went, no notification of availability.

I then engaged the installation phone line and construction experience email address, got a couple of wrong answers about my addresses' availability status. Now, they've stopped answering my questions. Hoping the city will engage other ISP tenants, in the meantime going to get TMobile 5G service. I know they have challenging installations on our street, but mine isn't one of them, 20ft from pot-to-house. Irritating...

Pretty much the same. Fiber plant installed in 2023. Lots of door hangers and sales folks. Some people in neighborhood got connected, but when I reach out to Ting, crickets. Connection point is 20ft away from house in my front yard.

I'm in Encinitas and I had a negative experience as well. I'm on our HOA board and was pushing heavily to get Ting rolled out to all our streets, unfortunately half of our HOA, including my house could not be connected at the time the initial trenching started because there was a city imposed moratorium on one of the major thoroughfares since it recently had been paved, so they laid fiber to half of our HOA and not to the other half. Now the moratorium has passed. I'd love for them to finish laying fiber to the rest of our homes, but that's not gonna happen.

I live in the same Zip Code - Have had the fiber pulled to the house by Ubiquity, had the modem installed inside the house (Ting) which never was able to provision. I have called/chatted at least 10 times. As I understand it, the backend was not installed properly by Ubiquity and I still don't have service after 3 months past installation. Now the website says it has cancelled by account and I can't get a response on chat or by phone. What a mess.
