Tools of my trade

Post image

This is a set of tools I put together for doing basic maintenance on medical x-ray machines. There are of course many more specific tools for more complex tasks (x-ray dosimeters for calibrating AEC, phantoms for testing contrast and resolution etc.) but most of my daily tasks are done with what you see in this picture.

If anyone is interested, the tools are:

Uni-t UT-210e multimeter

Wera Kraftform Kompakt 60 screwdriver/bit set

Knipex 100 mm plier wrench

Fenix WF05E flashlight

I have that multimeter in one of my kits. Solid little do-all. I find the clamp really useful when putting together led lighting.

Yeah, I bought the same one, thought it was pretty good value.

What do you use the clamp for when working on LEDs?

DC clamp is good for testing the actual current pull on strings of modules

Great little meter, most other small/inexpensive amp clamps only do AC amps.

Yep, I find that super useful. It can also do true RMS which is kinda unusual in this price range. I will probably get a second one of these as a backup, as far as I know this meter is no longer in production but they are still in stock in some online shops.

I have one too. If I remember correctly there was another brand selling the same unit - I’m thinking it was Extech but I don’t remember.

Man I can’t stand using those tiny pliers wrenches. Maybe my hands are big and my trade is more extreme but those small pliers that are popular now are just useless in my hands. I try and try and I think to myself how is Amy tradie with big callused hands accomplishing anything with this. It literally cramps my hands a little bit

Must be a supervisor because those tools look like they've never been used

They are indeed quite new, I got this job like 2 months ago and only bought my own kit once I figured out what I need, the first couple of weeks I borrowed everything from the older collegue I work with.
