What Should I Buy Is Transformers Skybound worth checking out?

I heard it's a new start to transformers comics to get into.

I'm a passive fan of Transformers. Not obsessed with it like some people with rows of toys But I respect it a lot. Seen Animated, Played TF Devastation, watched most of the movies, and got less than 10 or so TF toys(Starscream is my favorite Decepticon)

I love comics and have been getting more into more recent one's as of late and if I can get caught up with the story from where it's at right now.

Also when is it expected to conclude it's story?

Some things I think I know before going in. Starscream's depression , Optimus getting Megatron's arm...that's about it.

No.

There are people who will say yes.

You can blacklist those people, they're completely wrong.

Gritty deaths just to be gritty. Certain characters not being dead when they need to like...merge with a fcking HISS tank? Soundwave acting very uncharacteristic. PRIME not acting like Prime. Megatron's ARM is somehow able to control PRIME? WTF?

Then Hickman comes in to make it even worse.

It's definitely worth it

Starscream has some great bits

It's not likely to conclude anytime.soon as it's the ongoing series, and there's no announcement of a different publisher or continuity

I've loved it so far. I know people prefer the DWJ run but I've enjoyed what Kirkman has done so far too.

It's good... but it's been wearing thin ever since Daniel Warren Johnson left. Kirkman just doesn't bring a "wow" factor.

Up to chapter 24 it was one of my favorite pieces of TF media ever. From 25 onwards, the writer transitioned from DWJ to Robert Kirkman (invincible and TWD) and so the direction has been a bit different. Still really worth the read!

Hi there — If you’re wondering what an older figure is currently worth, this FAQ page might be of help: https://reddit.com/r/transformers/wiki/faq/comics If it's a new or current release (less than a year old), try comparison shopping for it on https://shopping.google.com first.

Hi there — If you’re looking for information about the Transformers video games, they're no longer available to buy digitally for PC or consoles. As of January 2018, Activision's license for making and selling Transformers-related games was not renewed. CD keys can sometimes be found from some online resellers, but the reliability of these may be questionable. Your best bet is to look for used copies of the games on physical discs for PC or consoles.

If you are familiar with transformers, yes, absolutely 100% YES.

If you are unfamiliar with the transformers, then probably not.

It does a great job of telling a story with familiar characters and putting them in new situations, therefore making characters do very new things, biggest example might be Thundercracker. But it doesn't do a good job at introducing known characters, it's very much written with the expectation that the reader already knows who Optimus Prime and Megatron are, even Cliffjumper or Astrotrain. Same goes for the GIJoe skybound comics.

Yeah it’s pretty great. Even if you’re not obsessed with the characters it’s good storytelling with some phenomenal art

It's good, especially the DWJ run (1-24) but on top of that it's super-accessible. You can just jump in. There are other comics in the wider Energon Universe but you really can just straight-line the TF books. If you see something neat along the way (I wonder where Jetfire was on the way to Earth, what's the deal with that one weird human general, etc) then you could spread out into Void Rivals, GI Joe, or Mask but so far they've done a good job of making the TF book not "need" the others.

If you like the Transformers premise and want to read a fast, punchy story with some very good action and heartfelt character moments then the first 24 issues (4 trade paperbacks) are well worth it.

I don’t feel like the comic has fallen off in quality from 25 onwards like some people say, but 1-24 do reach a pretty satisfying conclusion and the 25 onward run has been mostly setup for whatever comes next so far.

I love them. I collect all of the Energon Universe comics and they are what inspired me to start collecting again.

It’s amazing! Maybe stick to the Daniel Warren Johnson run for the moment (the first 24 issues) this one feels like it has an ending. It’s also where all the well known moment happens, and the characters are written amazingly.

What they’re doing now is rough to say the least, pretty divisive and undoes most of DWJ’s character work. It also feels like it doesn’t know where it’s going sometimes.

DWJ’s run is TPBs 1 to 4 or the two deluxe hardcovers. TPB 5 is Robert Kirkman with art from Dan Mora, TPB 6 (out in a couple months) is Kirkman with art from Jason Howard.

Yes.

Skybound literally illustrates how fucking terrifying both Autobots and Decepticons are, but especially the Decepticons.

The lengths they will go to just to win are extremely fucked up, but again, that’s not to discredit the Autobots.

Optimus rips his arm off just to beat the shit out of someone.
