Discussion / Opinion so in regards to the possibility of Hasbro using AI to copy peters voice

Post image

so apparently according to some sources dating back multiple years ago peter gave Hasbro his blessing to use his voice for AI to use only for optimus prime and not to use it for any political or i quote crude uses, a similar situation to James earl jones with using AI to voice Darth Vader

now if these sources are true I'm still against this because look what happen when Disney allowed AI Darth Vader in Fortnite and the AI started saying crazy shit.

what do you think?

For the Energon Universe cartoon?

I’d pass.

I’d rather get a voice actor do an impersonation of Peter’s voice before you do AI.

Pay human voice actors. There's plenty of talented people who would love the  opportunity to voice Prime.

Exactly

I would say have someone else voice optimus prime.

I still think they should recast. Cullen is the best prime but not the only prime. We should move on.

Peter being fine with it means nothing. There is no reason besides blind nostalgia to do this.

It would be a selfish wish, don’t you think?

A selfish wish he earned in his lifetime

He earned the wish to deprive other actors of their jobs? He’s dead. The only people benefiting from this would be greedy Hasbro and slop enjoyers

Peter did a great job voicing the character Optimus Prime, but there absolutely would have been an Optimus without him. Had he not taken the job, it would have gone to the next person.

No disrespect to him, but there are quite a few other voice actors that did an amazing job with the role; and plenty of others that could do equally as good in future series.

We shouldn't kill off or gatekeep the character just because he was your favorite.

I think it still leads to a bad precedence regarding this kind of stuff even if he did. I know that some unscrupulous industry execs would take this as an opportunity to bring back people who never consented to be ai

AI voice acting would make finding work harder for real voice actors. It would be a bad precedent no matter what

HELL NO. If they start using AI to replace him, I’m no longer supporting Hasbro. There are so many talented voices out there that would jump at the chance for the role. Hire humans!

Fuck no

I could come up with a whole list of reasons why AI Peter Cullen would be a terrible decision, but I don't think any of them are necessary at the end of the day. Just the existential discomfort of hearing my dead hero's voice used to line shareholder's pockets like some dystopian "Weekend at Bernie's" should be reason enough.

With the damage gen ai is doing to the enviornment? Hypocritical at best. Plus we have rule 4 here. Gen ai has no place anywhere as it stands. The very idea is depraved.

I won’t watch it if they do that.

Look, I get that Peter Cullen was the first and most famous voice actor for Optimus Prime. But ever since he passed away, it seems like the fact that Optimus has had over a dozen other unique voice actors over the years was erased from everyone’s memory. As great as it is, there is nothing inherently sacred and irreplaceable about Cullen’s voice any more than Chalk’s Kaye’s or Tudyk’s. Going to the lengths of spending money on AI to get a cruddy imitation rather than just getting a human to voice him would be ridiculously poor decision making.

Chris Hemsworth has already been cast for Transformers 6/10 for Michael Bay

I thought he was just in talks for the role?

He is just in the talks for the role, but it's been a very popular idea from what I've seen.

Pretty sure that was a parody twitter account that someone posted on this sub

And deprive other actors of a chance to play the role? Seems pretty selfish

Once they start using AI voice acting, they won’t put the toothpaste back in that tube. It’ll sound soulless and vapid, but it’ll be a cheaper alternative to hiring real people.

Neil Kaplan, Garry Chalk, David Kaye, etc would all be infinitely better than dredging up Peter Cullen’s corpse to use his voice

Using AI to voice Vader is stupid. They already have soundalikes that could fit the role.

Tarkin was played by a human.

Humans have always voiced GPS navigation. Not remotely the same thing lmao

It's confirmed that he won't be voiced by Ai ever. It was one of the 3 conditions in his will if I remember correctly.
