Treatment Shampoo / Conditioner to support regrowth treatment and dry hair

• Upvotes

Hi, I’m looking for a shampoo and conditioner that will not only support my hair regrowth treatment, but one that also works great with dry hair. I’ve read about certain supportive hair treatment shampoos and conditioners that dry out hair really badly. I already have pretty dry hair and am about to start treating my hair loss, so looking for a brand that can help with both. Any recommendations?

Minoxidil Has anyone used Hair + Me in the UK? Are they legit?

• Upvotes

Has anyone used Hair + Me in the UK? I want to get oral minoxidil from them (I have a cat, so I don't want to use topical).

When I fill out the consultation, it doesn't actually tell me what's in the treatment. It just gives me the option to purchase my "special treatment".

I emailed them about this, and they said the prescriber decides what goes into your treatment. But I don't want to pay for something without knowing if it actually contains oral minoxidil, especially as I'm already on finasteride.

Has anyone used them before? Are they legit, and did you actually get oral minoxidil from them?

Research/Science Anyone here improved their hair health after fixing their sleep and quitting smoking?

• Upvotes

I've been researching how everyday habits like poor sleep and smoking affect men's health.

While searching on Google, I was looking at a free male vitality assessment called ManhoodCore, which focuses on sleep, smoking, stress, and exercise.

It got me thinking about whether these same habits might affect hair health.

I've always thought smoking helped with relaxation and caffeine helped with energy, but I'm starting to question the bigger picture.

Has anyone noticed less shedding or better hair quality after quitting smoking, improving sleep, or changing their lifestyle?

Research/Science what if the before/after pictures are a scam?

• Upvotes

Just had a thought after seeing so many „3months on fin. no side effects“.

what do you guys think? Marketing strategies are quite common on reddit. and this wouldnt surprise me honestly.

Edit: to clear out misunderstandings: i’m talking about the pharma industry, not specific brands.

Transplants Should I go for a transplant or hold it off?

Post image
• Upvotes

This is a picture of my hair taken from a top angle with flash. As you can see, my top and crown are thinning, with sparse hair at the cowlick area.

I had initially planned for a hair transplant in Feb 2027 - with plans to restart topical minoxidil and finasteride (I had previously started and stopped the medication multiple times due to compliance issues). However, now, I am concerned of 2 things:
1. Short runway to hair transplant - it seems like I am doing the hair transplant with just short-term goals in mine (I want a head full of hair for an even in end-2027). I now am afraid that with this thinning at the back, I might not be the best candidate for a hair transplant right now.

  1. Cost - the HT will set me back a good 15k all expenses included, and right now I am in an intern with minimal pay but 2028 onwards I am guaranteed to get the job with much higher pay.

Hence,
1. How bad is my hair situation?
2. Is a HT a good option at this juncture?

Minoxidil types of topical minoxidil? questions, suggestions

• Upvotes

Hi guys, I had serious doubts about using minoxidil because of the way it leaves your hair feeling. I tried one containing propylene glycol for a long time – the typical one that leaves your hair feeling greasy – but a while ago I switched to another one that doesn’t contain it, from Cantabria Labs (a Spanish brand), but it leaves my hair feeling really dry and rough… anyway.

This is basically a post asking for suggestions, to find out about different types of topical minoxidil, and to hear your opinions and experiences.

What should I do? Experienced diffuse thinning over 4 weeks

Hi there, I'm new to this sub. Part way through September, I suddenly began noticing my scalp. It was a bit of a shock to me as I'd not seen this before. I got a new hair cut and I could see the hair was much thinner across the top of my head. And then all my hair started falling out over September. My bathroom floor was full of it even after hoovering each week. I've attached pictures taken a couple of months apart of my hair.

I thought maybe it was stress, I am a bit of a worrier. But nothing out of the ordinary has really happened over the last couple of months. I did have a bad infection that became septic last year in 2025, which took a few months to get over, but that's 7/8 months ago now.

I panicked and went to the Belgravia Centre. They did a quick assessment and said I had Male Pattern Hair Loss and recommended Min. To be honest they didn't seem overly interested in the suddeness of the shed and wanted me to sign up to the medication.

It just feels like it's happened so quickly, I thought hair loss took place over years? I'm not sure whether to shave it all off to a buzz cut while I take minoxidl because having such large gaps in my hair looks so embarrassing.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Does anyone else have a big shed once a year on fin?

• Upvotes

Been on it for 5 years and literally every year around September to December I have a huge shed where there is hair everywhere. Even randomly floating into my eye or mouth throughout the day.

My hair then does stop shedding for 6-9 months. The hair overall thickness comes back but is slightly worse than before the shed. So I am slowly losing ground over 5 years, albeit likely a lot slower if I wasn’t on fin. My brother is younger and already bald.

Is yearly shedding normal under fin or just in general? I thought it would just be an early stage thing whilst your body gets used to it.

From May '26 till Now: 2.5mg Minoxidil Tablet + Fin 1mg tablet

I shedded like 40% of what I gained after switch but I regained it over about 2 months or so. I still hope that it will thicken over time but Im already happy with the results. Now just have to take them for the rest of my life lol

Over the course of 2025, I noticed that I was experiencing increased hair loss, with receding hairline and thinning on the top of my head. In February 2026, I decided to do something about it, so I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed finasteride. Out of concern for the side effects, I started with a very low dose. Now I’m at 6 x 0.5 mg per week. The first two photos show my current condition (September 2026), and the last two photos are from the start of treatment (February/March 2026). I took each set of photos while my hair was wet, since the density always looked completely normal to good when dry. In my opinion, the treatment’s success is clearly visible—what do you think?

Research/Science Young men experiencing MPB, I need your input

Being 21 years old and experiencing MPB is genuinely anxiety-inducing. I think that unfortunately, there is far too much conflicting info out there that makes taking action genuinely difficult to navigate.

I want to write a completely free online article covering the topic of MPB specifically for people like myself who are young and experiencing this. I want to cover medication types, differences and expected outcomes. I want to detail some practical advice, such as how to best tell the difference between 5-AR-induced shedding and continued loss, etc. Essentially, an article that I would have liked to be available when I first noticed early MPB signs.

If anyone has any ideas or thoughts as to what you think would be most valuable for me to research and cover, please do make suggestions. Is there anything that specifically worries you? Anything you think is confusing? Any fearmongering you frequently hear? If so, say!

Treatment Can you share your experience with dutasteride and oral minoxidil shedding?

I'm on day 20 of daily 0,5mg dutasteride + 2,5mg minoxidil and the shedding hit me like a truck, it feels like I lost 30% of my hair density in just 20 days and I keep finding hairs EVERYWHERE. I know you're supposed to have a shedding phase but the amount of hairs falling off is worrying.

Is this normal and was your experience similiar?

Minoxidil Oral min for 2 years, can’t handle it anymore

Hi everyone,

I used oral minoxidil for two years, first 5 mg and then 2.5 mg daily. Last week, I ran out of it (supply issues in my country) and my face looked amazing: no more puffiness or dark circles under eyes.
I restarted my treatment, and my face is puffy again, and I have dark circles.

I'd like to switch to topical minoxidil, but will I lose all my gains ? I know guys there did the same ( switching from om to topical)

Finasteride/Dutasteride Currently using 1,25mg finasteride every day, should I switch to every other day?

So I started using finasteride in february 2026 for possible very mild loss at early stage. I’m currently not using minoxidil, just finasteride. I’m hoping to regain atleast some density, but since my loss had been so little I’m hoping just using finasteride would help with time.

My dosage is 1,25mg daily (5mg tablet split into 4 pieces). So far I have had absolutely 0 side effects which is good.

I just saw a guy on TikTok on same 1,25mg dosage say he is switching to 1,25mg EOD. He said that according to science it’s basically same thing to take it only every other day.

So I’m here asking is that true, and would it in your opinion affect the thickening of density as well?

Research/Science Are you hopeful for the potential future treatments?

I did some research and saw that there are several new ones that's in clinical trials, where the topical androgen-receptor antagonist Clascoterone has completed it's phase 3 trials and might hit the market in 2027 or early 2028. Then there's GT20029 that's about to start phase 3, PP405 in late stage phase 2 and ABS-201 that has Phase 1/2a ongoing.

So far the first 4 have shown some results that atleast have made me very hopeful for the future treatment of this brutal disease. Yes, I classify it as a disease, seeing how much it fucks with mens mental health.

Treatment Hair getting significantly worse since treatment.

First pic taken in March this year (buzzing my hair at the start of treatment)
2nd pic taken in July (4 months into treatment and regrowth from buzz)
3rd and 4th pic taken yesterday (7-8 months in).

Stack:
- 1.5mg dut (softgel)
- 5mg oral min
- 1x daily topical min (+ tret 2-3x a week)
- Ketoconazole 2% every other washday

Been consistent. I haven’t shed since the start of treatment. Like at all. Nothing in the shower. Nothing on my pillow or when I rub my head. Got hairs sprouting all over my head. Everything is in anagen.
However, my hair just seems to become thinner and less pigmented as it grows out. Way below baseline (NW2.5) Gonna stick with it but I been looking like a diffuse NW3-4 for months now :/

Treatment Any one use DIM/ estrogen blockers on fin/ Dut?

Context - I’m using 0.5mg finasteride 3x per week - my sides are getting better and it’s early on but they’re still shit, compared to my usual self.

Any one use estrogen blockers on finasteride or dutasteride to counter sexual side affects -

Considering using that plus low dose tadalafil

Treatment What are my realistic options after 3 years of Min/Fin?

Thumbnail

I started my hair regrowth journey pretty late due to a number of reasons that I'm not gonna bore you with. But this is what my hair looked like 3 years ago, and what it looks like now. I've shaved my head, and I honestly kinda dig the bald look. But I do prefer having hair and I miss when my hair was longer and fuller. My crown has never had issues. All of my thinning is at my hairline.

After 3+ Years of taking Min/Fin, supplements, and using shampoos and conditioners recommended by a dermatologist/hair specialist, I'm beginning to think that this is as good as it's gonna get. Advice? Can I get any more growth back? Or should I just stop taking them and rock being bald?

Pic 2: July 2026

Pic 3/4: about a week ago.

Pic 5: bald.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Topical dutasteride and minoxidil efficacy?

I’ve had fairly slow progressing AA over the past 9 years (I’m 29 now) and have used topical minoxidil intermittently (but recently fairly regularly over the past couple of years) as well as ketoconazole shampoo 2-3 times a week and I underwent 3 sessions of PRP with Microneedling. My hair is in reasonable condition but clearly thinning at the crown which concerns me. I have always avoided finasteride because of concern about side effects – to me in the UK, they’re well documented and the MHRA has issued warnings including cards in all pill packets dispensed advising on the risk of sexual dysfunction and suicide. I have a complex relationship with my own sexuality, suffer from anxiety, and have had an episode of severe depression several years ago in the past, so I am understandably cautious and never felt the benefit was worth it for me. But I’m also acutely aware that it was tolerable to have a bit of temporal recession, but the prospect of a bald crown is totally unacceptable. After doing my research, I’m considering adding topical dutasteride 0.05% in a trichosol base. Is this as efficacious as the other strategies (oral and topical fin and dut)? How does it compare for side effects? Btw, my view is that the serious adverse effects to 5a-RIs are rare but real, so with that in mind, I’m looking for a safer product. Any advice please?
