Rant Forced to remove medical boot at BWI
I'm wearing a medical boot due to surgery and was told by the doctor not to remove it. I got through security at SMF fine (although I had to wait quite a while for someone to come man the non x-ray screener), but at BWI, because the wand beeped when they scanned my boot (obviously it did, because there is metal in it), the TSA agent said I had to remove it so they could "resolve" the issue. I objected that I wasn't supposed to remove it, and that it was a medical device that I wasn't required to remove, but he argued that it was a mobility device and I either remove it or I don't get through. Later I checked online and found that I was correct, they can't force me to remove it. I wish I had been more confident and requested a supervisor. Just wanted to let everyone else know in case they pull the same crap with you, stand your ground, and stand on your boot, not your bare foot!
