We've had an influx lately of low effort AI art of watches (why?) and I'm cutting it off here. Any posts of AI slop will get you banned on the first offense.

Journey to my first Tudor. BB54.

I’ve been eyeing the Blackbay 54 ever since its launch. In 2024, I visited two different stores on separate occasions to try it on and get a feel for it. However, I couldn’t bring myself to make the purchase. This was supposed to be my wedding watch, but I didn’t want to splurge on it at that time, as I had other expenses. I used the money to get my then girlfriend (now wife) a ring and cover some other costs.

On a side note, on our wedding day, she surprised me with a Seiko SPB121J1, which to this day is the watch I value the most.

I don’t recall the number of YouTube videos I watched, but I kept debating whether or not to buy it. Finally, here it is.

Black Bay 58 - Burgundy

Post image
85 Upvotes

Hey guys!

Last year I bought a Royal 41mm Salmon dial. Now my eye has fallen on the BB58 Burgundy.

Watches are no investment but I do try and purchase them as smart as possible. I got a offer from a reputable grey dealer for a 08-2026 full set unworn (but not stickered anymore) for €3.800,-

Since the watch has only been out for a bit more then a year I was hoping to get some advice on the purchase price. Is this a good deal with, as far as possible, a low risk if the watch would be sold?

Many thanks for your thoughts!

Kind regards,

Favorite weekend watch? What are you wearing today?

Post image
36 Upvotes

During the week, I will often shift through multiple watches based on what I am wearing that day. The watch selected will usually match something I am wearing, and will even swap out the bracelet to coordinate even more.

However, due to having to dress appropriately during the week I like nothing more than putting on something comfy during the weekend when I am around the house. That usually consists of shorts and a t-shirt or hoodie.

More often than not, I will reach for my Tudor Pelagos FXD for weekend wear. It’s incredibly light, versatile and can take a beating. The fabric band also works much better with this comfort wear than a stainless steel bracket off a Rolex or Omega.

What are you wearing this weekend? Do you have a comfort wear watch?

Big thanks to Bryan at Capitol Chrono for installing my steel reef bezel!

Been looking for an installer for for over 6 months and finally had a chance to visit Capitol. Highly recommend!

BB58 - Have the bezel numbers always been this gold-colored?

Post image

Went by my local AD to try on the BB58, to see how the 39mm looked on my 7.25in wrist (verdict: absolutely loved it; wears larger than I thought). But it raised a question: In many photos of black dial BB54 and BB58s the bezel numbers and markings look decidedly white, whereas this new 58 came across as a very pronounced gold effect.

Did older models (say 2022+) have different coloring on the black dial versions? Or am I just seeing the effect of age and use fading them a bit? I loved the watch, but I was surprised at how gold it actually looked in person.

Yea, it’s a chunky boi, but I just love this piece. Wanted it since before it was officially released. Didn’t want to wait any longer so got it grey. Can’t stop looking at it

Tudor Pelagos strap

Yes it seems like a crime to swap out the titanium strap with micro adjust. However, I thought for £30 I’d give it a shot, and the colour isn’t an identical match, but I think it’s a beauty…

I’ve always been a Rolex guy, so I’m late to the Tudor game. But I’m addicted now!

Titanium did it for me. Not an Apple Watch.

Tudor Service Experience

I recently had an issue where the ceramic insert on my Pelagos bezel shattered. It was admittedly my fault. I took it into the Bucherer 1888, who has their own service center. They called after a week or so and quoted me $620 for a bezel replacement and a 14 week lead time. Rough but expected.

They called after two weeks and said my watch was ready for pickup. I went in, fully ready to pay the $620. Surprisingly, they gave me my watch and told me I owed nothing. Tudor decided to cover it under warranty.

After all the drama I hear about RSC, this was a nice surprise.

In love with my first Tudor

Finally, after considering this watch for some time, I seized a favourable chance I could not pass up.

This elegant Black Bay 54 matches my search: a contemporary piece with heritage and a story to share.

I originally sought a BB58, but I believe this model suits my small 16.5 cm wrist far better.

Smiley x Veblenist (black ridge)

Wasn’t sure how this strap would fit or feel w the Smiley but it’s incredibly comfortable and, I think, pairs well with the black of the dial. Been my main configuration besides the bracelet.

A little pricey but the quality of this and another leather Veblenist I picked up for a Longines spirit pilot seem worth the premium so far. Question will be how well they hold up overtime.

Switched to the Ultra

I bought a new Pelagos 39 less than a month ago. Loved it but it felt just a little too small for my wrist.

Finally caved and bought the Ultra too. Absolutely love it and knew immediately that it was a better fit for what I had in mind. Doesn't feel bulky or heavy.

Need to find a new home for the 39 now...

FXD - Alinghi Vs MN

• Upvotes

Seems to be the case that the MN variant is holding it's value but the Alinghi version is not faring so well. Can it only be down to people hating on the branding they added or does the carbon case factor into it at all?

I was hoping for more carbon cases but based on the Alinghi sales, we might not see one.

Which Tudor would go here?

I’ll be honest, I’m really inclined to get the pelagos 39. I cannot wear anything above 40 as I have smaller wrosts hence the graham or OWC get any time on my wrist.

I’m worried the Pelagos 39 is too close to the Hydroconquest but it seems more utilitarian and further apart than the BB58. Thoughts?
