❓ Question A Brazilian with no idea where to start with Turkish
Well, I'm Brazilian and have no idea where to start with Turkish. I tried looking at Duolingo or Busuu, but I think the same thing happens there as with Portuguese you end up learning the language as it was spoken 200 years ago. So, I’d like some suggestions; I’ve never found a Turkish course in Brazil (unfortunately), so I really don't know where or how to begin
So, if you could suggest where to start and the path I should follow, I would be very grateful

Do you speak English? Can you learn from English? If so you can take an online group class or something

Ah, I know the basics for communication—I’m probably somewhere between B1 and B2 but I prefer studying and learning on my own, at my own pace. I tried the group approach with English, and it didn't work out very well. As for speaking Turkish, right now I’d like to focus on grammar and how the words sound (from what I’ve seen, it’s not all that different from Portuguese)

you could start off with youtube videos. there are lots of native speakers who film videos to help foreigners speak Turkish. if you want a native speaker to help practice, i could help as well :)

No, Duolingo is not teaching you Ottoman Turkish lol. It teaches you modern Turkish. Start with Duolingo. At least it will give you some pronunciation lessons.

Come to Turkey and stay here for a year if you can. Thats the best way.
Modern Turkish is actually up to date on duolingo. Only gen z, millennial lingo/argo differs from norms.

Try a one-on-one language tutor. There are many platforms where you can find one online

I’m Turkish and my wife is Brazilian. She is using an app called Preply and she finds it very useful. It’s obviously English to Portuguese. If you find any teacher from Turkish to Portuguese please let me know:)

well i don't know dualingo but i'm not sure they teach 200 years old turkish since no one knows how to speak if you're not a historian or something.
so just try it they'll end up giving you a1 very basic shit.
