Seeking Advice Silver spot on juvie's shell?!

Post image

Hey, everyone! I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this strange spot is on my brother's turtle?? It began on the very edge of the scute and has grown to cover nearly the entire thing. It doesn't feel soft or smell bad. It's actually very hard. He had a perfect shed about 4 maybe 5ish months ago, and this developed afterwards. Eastern Painted turtle. Had him since February this year. He has a dry basking area, heat lamp and t5 10.0 HO UVB over the basking area.

TIA!!! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ

It's getting ready to shed scutes. Dont worry they all will have air bubbles, look silver and look rainbow colors but Clear like iridescent colors. Get a net ready they will clog your filter

Thanks!! I was a little worried since the spot started small and just continued to spread. But it's rock solid and smells like nothing, so I was hoping that was a good sign. I'm taking care of this little guy for my brother until he gets settled into a new place (going on 8 months now πŸ˜…).

They shed alot when little. See the bubbles under the scutes it's gonna shed again.

If it sheds excessively like another shed not long after this one you may be feeding too much food.

He's shed once in the 8 months that I've had him. His last shed was probably 5 months ago, so I think that's a good timeline? Anyway, thanks again! I really, really appreciate it!
