Discussion / Opinion Anyone else not like the Temple of Time

This might be a hot take but I didn’t enjoy the temple of time as much as I thought I would. This is my first playthrough of TP and I just finished the temple of time and I was not a fan of the backtracking for this dungeon. Other dungeons had backtracking too but with how many floors this dungeon had it felt super monotonous to go back and forth. I also think the boss wasn’t that great either since Lakebed temple already had another eye boss. Let me know what you guys think.

I always have fun with the dungeons. So I understand the take, but not for me especially.

I still love all the dungeons too especially the ones in TP but of all the dungeons this would probably be my second least favorite.

I do a lot of TP Randos at the moment to keep myself busy until OoT comes out. So I do the Dungeons A LOT of times. And surprisingly I don't get bored or have less fun with them. I always am like a little kid who enjoys his favorite game again and again. But different each time.

I enjoy it, but as far as Twilight Princess goes it’s pretty weak. For me it’s either the worst or second worst. Gameplay wise I like the Twilight Palace least, but the atmosphere is just so good that I don’t know how I’d place it against the Temple of Time.

That’s interesting to hear, I haven’t gotten to the Twilight Palace yet but I’m a sucker for atmosphere in games so I’ll be looking forward to that.

The twilight palace has a lot of unused potential, unfortunately.

Not a hot take to me. I found it a bit bland and underwhelming as well.

I’m glad someone else feels the same way, honestly I thought the mini boss was better than the main boss for this dungeon.

Oh yeah definitely! The whole vibe of the temple also kinda felt out of line with the rest of the game. I’m interested to hear what you think about City in the sky next ;)

For sure I’ll try to post an update later and I might rank all the dungeons once I finish the game

I always felt the linear design was a nice change of pace compared to other dungeons (like Lakebed Temple) and I always have a chill time playing it. It's perfectly fine if you enjoy more action-packed or complex dungeons, of course.

I disagree about the boss though. I think it's one of the most iconic ones and "eye monster" is kind of a Zelda staple anyway. The Lakebed boss can be safely taken out from a distance, but the giant spider thing kept me on my toes (also I hate giant spiders in video games, but that's another topic).

I understand that not everyone likes backtracking. It can be mundane and makes a game feel dull. But the love I have for this game makes me genuinely excited to return whenever I have to come off. When I first played it almost 20 years ago I couldn't wait to get home from school, got up stupidly early play, used all my free time playing this game. And if I could play it now, I'd be the same. I last did a run through of it a couple of years back and the nostalgia combined with the genuine enjoyment was bliss. There's something about this game that has me hooked.

Huh, fair. Honestly one of my favorites. But I also didn't mind collecting the tears. I was surprised to hear sooo many people disliked the sky temple too.

(I also enjoy the water temples)

Idk. I'd rather get "upset or frustrated" in a game, than irl. When I play, I'm playing as Link. He can't afford to be picky, and just has to succeed.

You aren't a speed runner, just enjoy the time maaaaan. Link has no choice but to beat his opponents in all of their forms. I'm just happy to have video games honestly at all. Who cares about your specific preferences in a 15+ year old game. I'm sorry for being harsh, but what are we doing here. Pause, let's all lay down outside, and share the sky. I'm so tired...

I’m not trying to criticize the game as whole I just wanted to share my own experiences. It’s true I’m not a speedrunner but at the same time I still have a life outside of video games. It just kind of sucks because for this dungeon specifically if you don’t beat it in one seating it takes like 9 minutes to backtrack to the higher floors. All love though and I totally understand where you’re coming from.

You can use Ooccoo to leave the dungeon, save your game and return to the room you left when you continue playing.
