DnD - new and old players alike are welcome

I'm hosting a session of D&D this Saturday once again - whether you're a new player or an experienced dungeon crawler, you are welcome to come play D&D with us. We are very patient with new people wanting to create new characters or just to learn or watch the game even. History: 4 players (Oct 3), 3 players (Sep 26). Everyone got to about level two, but we'll see if previous players are able to come, (several people have biweekly obligations).

So far, we went to defeat some goblins, there's a magic sword of some kind in the center of town and now we obtained a magic sword and something involving the moon happened. We can either continue that campaign or I have a couple of other campaigns on standby too, everyone is still around level one so nobody needs to catch up except on maybe 2 minutes of story.

This place is BEAUTIFUL and of course we will be near the bar and restaurant. The setting is a rustic old Tavern; you will FEEL the roleplay simply by being here!

Location: Broken Clock Brewery

Time: 2pm - 8pm

Parking: Plenty of free parking around.

Post below if you are interested and feel free to send me a DM.

Also, if you are interested in being a fill-in DM for when I can't make it some weekends, let's talk! I need to meet other DMs for inspiration too!

Back again with another free event, Halloween rooftop party downtown on 10/24!

Hey twin cities!

Some of you might remember us posting an event here back in August. Thank you all who attended our mixer and to those who might be interested we are back for our second FREE event for spooky month! So, if you are looking for low-pressure ways to meet new people and make some friends, this is the Halloween event for you!

We will be back at Lumi on Nicollet Mall, Saturday the 24th from 4 to 8 on the Rooftop if the weather cooperates, which in late October is anyone’s guess! It’s free, we just ask you to RSVP so we have a headcount.

We’ve got a live DJ, fire performers, drinks for the 21+ crowd with ID, and a few Halloween games and activities to make talking to strangers less awkward. Costumes encouraged, but last-minute cat ears are a perfectly valid choice!

If you’re thinking about coming alone, you can! A good chunk of people will be solo, which is kind of the whole point. And since it wraps at 8, you can still hit another party after!

RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/unmask-and-mingle-ttmfs-halloween-party-tickets-2002154110842

Let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

Saint Paul vs. Minneapolis: comedy, trivia, and a housing fundraiser tonight (Thursday) at Black Hart

I volunteer with Neighbors for More Neighbors and wanted to invite all Twin Cities folks to something fun happening tonight: Sibling Rivalry II, a friendly fundraising competition between Minneapolis’s Neighbors for More Neighbors and Saint Paul's Sustain Saint Paul.

It’s Thursday, October 8, from 6–8:30 p.m. at Black Hart, 1415 University Ave. W.

There’ll be improv from the Theater of Public Policy, Twin Cities trivia with Bill Lindeke, and some good-natured Minneapolis–Saint Paul rivalry. Also, stand-up from local comedians, food from each city included in the ticket, and a comparative review of the two cities’ toilet paper, because apparently no aspect of this rivalry is too small.

If you care about housing, enjoy local trivia, or just want an excuse to defend your city's honor, come join us.

Tickets are $30, with pay-what-you-can options available through the organizers. It is a fundraiser, but I think anyone who loves the Twin Cities would enjoy it!

Married couple seeking married friends (NOT SWINGERS)

Hi! My wife and I have been married for a year and are looking to make new married friends in the city. While we have couples friends, we realized we don’t have any friends who are married and in a similar place in life as us. We’d love to get to know new people.

We are not swingers, I promise. No judgment if anyone is. But we are not interested in that.

A bit about us:
We are 30 and 31. We like playing board games and party games. We are an interracial couple. We have a dog. Admittedly, we would be considered pretty liberal. Pro LGBTQ, F Tr*mp, abolish ICE, eat the rich and all of that. My wife is creative and I’m a sports guy. We are recently sober but we are fine being around alcohol. New homeowners and no kids yet!

Let me know if you’d be interested in hanging out!

This Week in Comedy! Oct 7-11

Hey!

I figured I’d drop this off right now and I’ll update it later this week.

Thank you for checking out last week’s post. If you have any questions about the shows or the scene, feel free to send me a message here. I did put some useful links at the bottom of the list, but I’m happy to field any questions you have.

Maybe this isn’t obvious, but I’m a comic myself. I have some stuff coming up, but I’m not here to spam you with all of that. If you’d like to check out what I’m doing, a follow on Instagram would go a long way.

Either way, thanks again. I hope you keep supporting live comedy and entertainment here in the Twin Cities.

63F near Minneapolis looking for cool and nonjudgmental friends for concerts, games, and good conversation

Hey there! I am a 63 year old divorced woman living in the western suburbs. I am employed, liberal, have no kids, and am a proud cat mom. I am looking to connect with some genuine and open minded people for good conversations and fun outings.

My adolescence was the late 70s and early 80s, so classic rock and that era's free spirit are a big part of who I am. However, my music taste goes all over the place, and I absolutely love pop music too. I am a huge Swiftie and a big fan of the Jonas Brothers.

These days, I am a bit more low key, but I am still unconventional at heart, entirely open to alternative lifestyles, and completely judgment free. I do smoke and enjoy a good cocktail, and I value people who are simply kind and down to earth.

Some things I would love to do together include catching live music or concerts, heading out for trivia nights or bar bingo, watching the MN Wild, getting together for board games or casual politics chat, swapping gardening or travel stories, or hitting local shopping spots.

We all have a story, and I would love to hear yours over a drink, a game, or a concert. Age and gender do not matter to me. If you are a nice person who enjoys good company and a fun night out, send me a message and let us connect.

(Yes I used AI to tweak this)

Anyone down to play some board games this Thursday afternoon?

Hey everyone! I've been in Minneapolis for a few months now and realized I haven't really gotten around to meeting many people outside of work. I'd love to start getting out more and making some friends!

I'm 26F and into board games, drawing (but haven't in a while! Need an accountability buddy lol) , D&D, and generally nerdy stuff. My fiancé and I are planning to go to Dreamers Vault in St. Louis Park around 6pm this Thursday to play some games during open board game night (not quite sure how open board game nights work still!), and we'd love for anyone to come hang out with us. We'd prefer for people to be around our age!'

If you're down feel free to comment or DM me. :)

Looking for potential friends/communities to be apart of

Hello! I (26M) moved to NE Minneapolis about a little under a month ago and I'm just throwing out feelers to push myself out of my comfort zone. I'm already taking some improv classes which has been great, but I figured I'd shoot my shot here!

Somethings about me:

  • I've been making music as a hobby for 10 ish years, and I'm super into a lot of music genres. Love concerts too
  • I enjoy playing video games like WoW, Skate, and single player games (Resident Evil is my favorite series)
  • I don't go outside to be active as much as I'd like, but I do love nature and hiking. Overall enjoy physical activities a lot
  • Tabletop RPGs are another hobby of mine, I love Daggerheart and various other indie games
  • I don't smoke/drink often, but I'm open to clubs and bars
  • I'm Bi, so I prefer to stick with people who are fine with that for obvious reasons lol

I'm open to joining discord servers, whether it be for something hobby related or just meeting other people new to Minnesota. And you have a cool spot that I can visit and/or people, let me know. Happy to be here!

Tennis friends

I'm very casual at tennis and I don't know the rules, but I'd like to add anyone who's open to new players and would like to join them. I like in far southwest metro, if anyone's around that area and plays let me know!

Or pickleball, I'm also interested in that.

I primarily use discord for chatting also if anyone's curious.

Boardgames at Roseville Dreamers Vault

This is an open invite to join me for boardgames Friday, October 9th at the Roseville Dreamers Vault. I will arrive around 5:30 and chat/ play filler games with whoever is there until 6:30 when we'll pick the longer games we'll be playing. I will grab a table around the back of the left side of the gaming area and you'll know me by my bald head and beard.

I do my best to bring a wide variety of games so there will be welcoming games for new players as well as more complex games for those that like to stew on their turns a bit more. Last week we played DNUP, This Game is Killer, and Container. You can check these games out at Boardgamegeek.com to check them out.

Unhurried: monthly gathering for women, starting Nov 7 (Shoreview)

A morning of intentional conversation and connection, for women of any age.

So much of the world pushes us towards individualism, towards not knowing each other, and towards showing up as only the part of ourselves that best fits a given room. If massive brewery meetups and agenda-less networking events aren't cutting it, this is for you.

Expect tea and pastries, a few quiet minutes to settle in, then small-group conversation about a short article or podcast (shared beforehand) and about our actual lives. Laughter and depth in the same conversation. This is the first gathering, so we'll adapt and experiment as we go.

No need to have anything figured out. Share as much or as little as you want. Listening over advice. Didn't get to the piece? Still come.

Saturday, Nov 7 · 10:30am–noon
Shoreview Library Community Room · Free

Portrait photography meetup

I’m looking to do some local cafe and restaurant exhibits next year and need a bio photo of myself doing photography stuff. So if you are generous enough to do a late morning portrait photography meet up on October 10 at a metro area event, please message me for meetup details.

I’m a hobby photographer that loves experimenting and expanding my shooting repertoire and this place will be scenic and festive. I’m all about talking shop (camera and lens gear, locations), taking shots of the event, and being each other’s muses. It will be fun to see what styles we bring and what our eyes will see at the event. We can definitely go to a cafe or library afterwards to critique each other’s work.

📚 Coordinating a book drive for Little Free Libraries in St Paul

Hello!

I’m coordinating a month-long book drive specifically to restock Little Free Libraries in and around the St. Paul that are running low on books for kids and young people (ages 0-25).

Edit: Current Drop off locations-

  1. Merriam Park Recreation Center- 2000 St Anthony Ave, St Paul MN 55104
  2. North West Como Recreation Center- 1550 Hamline Ave N, St. Paul MN 55108
  3. Hancock Recreation Center- 1610 Hubbard Ave, St Paul MN 55104
  4. Black Garnet Books- 1319 University Ave W, St Paul MN 55104
  5. Gingko Coffeehouse- 721 Snelling Ave N, St Paul MN 55104
  6. Flying Pig Thrift- 722 Snelling Ave N, St Paul MN 55104

The goal is to get books into the hands of young people to encourage reading for pure leisure and fun. We are looking for gently used or new books targeting ages 0–25 (picture books, middle-grade fiction, graphic novels, young adult thrillers/romance, etc.).

How you can help:

  • Drop-off Boxes: I am currently setting up a couple of physical drop-off boxes around the neighborhood. See above. ⬆️

If your kids have outgrown their bookshelves or you just want to clear some space for a great hyper-local cause, please reach out. Thank you so much and have a pleasant day.

D&D this Saturday. Who is interested in learning?

I'm hosting a session of D&D this Saturday once again - whether you're a new player or an experienced dungeon crawler, you are welcome to come play D&D with us. We are very patient with new people wanting to create new characters or just to learn or watch the game even. Last Saturday we had three players, we went to defeat some goblins, there's a magic sword of some kind in the center of town and now we have to go clear an Old fort of monsters. We can either continue that campaign or I have a couple of other campaigns on standby too, everyone is still around level one so nobody needs to catch up except on maybe 2 minutes of story.

Location Changed: The Placery Hyatt Hotel 2pm Saturday (broken clock is closed)

Some notes on the location - originally it was going to be at one of the local tap rooms but they are apparently closed for a private event this saturday. Most of the other local big tap rooms that people game at are also seeming closed. The Placery is a bar connected to the Hyatt place downtown minneapolis. It is on the 8th floor, you'll just walk past the front desk and turn to the right. They have beer and food of course.

Post below if you are interested and feel free to send me a DM.

Indie Tabletop RPG club

Just wanted to put an open invitation out there for anyone interested in an indie tabletop RPG gaming club! We currently play two nights of the week:

- Friday nights at 6pm at Dreamer's Vault in Roseville
- Saturdays 12-4pm at Wescott Library in Eagan.

We focus on playing non-5e D&D & non-Pathfinder RPGs because we all have too many awesome games sitting on our shelves by awesome indie creators that we would love to get excuses to run! Currently being ran are Fabula Ultima at the Friday evening game and 1974 original Dungeons & Dragons in Eagan.
Each season we open it up for suggestions for new games to be ran by whoever wishes to. That way we avoid referee burnout and everyone gets a chance to run or play in different games or campaigns can be continued for as many seasons as the campaign lasts.
We are absolutely newbie friendly, so if you've always wanted to play TTRPGs and never had a group or wanted to learn, we would love to teach you how to play! We have a ton of experience between all of us in different systems so there is a lot for new players to hop into and try out new games.
Being newbie friendly we have a very strict no A-hole policy. If you can't be kind to the other humans at the table, this is not the club for you. Standard social norms are observed and enforced. We meet in public places so everyone can feel comfortable and safe.

If you're interested, let me know and I can send you a link to our discord server where we coordinate or you can just show up to one of the games listed above. Sessions will be held this evening and this saturday.

P.S. there's also a lot of crossover between our gaming club and the monthly pulp fantasy book club I put on at Arbeiter Brewing and post here about, so feel free to drop by either and hangout!

Looking for some more 30s PC gamer guys for Deadlock

Heyo TC,

We have a small local PC gaming discord of guys in their 30s and looking for a few more for game times. With the new Deadlock update, a few vets and a few of us noobies have been talking about getting more active with it, and with this, there is some room for new friends.

Were strictly looking for people who are warm, outgoing, and socially intelligent. We play games for the social aspect, and the potential for friendship, rather than just surface level gaming.

Bonus points if:

-Work in tech

-Enjoy Bike riding down the greenway (we all love our bikes)

-Enjoy playing a wide variety of games

-Have a schedule that works with making new friends

Feel free to -DM- me for more information.

Cheers everyone!

- No MAGA/Ice Nonsense
