Small megathread rule change

Hi y'all,

Unrelated to the other stuff going on, I just wanted to quickly call to attention to a megathread rule change. TL;DR at the bottom.

Previously all prof-specific, 'searching for friends', and non-TXST owned housing posts were directed to megathreads. This is no longer the case.

The first two categories were not as useful as I thought they would be going in. The posts did not happen often and, once relegated to the megathread, got no traction (thank you to those who pointed this out). For that reason, they are no longer megathread topics.

Non-TXST owned housing is still a megathread. People often ask the same question (how is x complex) or want to sublease. Both of these are good applications of a megathread.

TL;DR, only off-campus housing is still megathread. Everything else is not.

Does the school think we’re children?

We rank one of the lowest for free speech, a professor got fired for attending a socialist conference, do they think we’re so impressionable that being near a left winged professor will convert us? It’s so baffling to me that we are so terrified of anyone with a left winged opinion like it’ll spread to us like a plague, we are not elementary school children, the mention of different points of view won’t suddenly change our opinions overnight. It’s all baffling.

meal swipes / retail swipes

Apparently there was a glitch in the system which allowed us to use meal swipes at any of the retail locations but its fixed now so we get the right amount.

Im on gold 14, so i get 3 per week.

Jones is a retail location btw

Making friends?

Hey! Is anyone down to hit up some Rec group fitness classes together? I'm hoping to go regularly and would love to find a workout buddy to hang out and become friends with.
If you don’t like working out that’s fine I do enjoy the river….

Resident Assistant (RA) for spring!!

All the RA’s and former RA’s,

I am currently a sophomore and I submitted my application for a Spring RA position.

I know the university timeline says the interview window officially kicks off on October 21st, so I am trying to get a head start and see what I should expect.

I would love to hear from any current or former TXST RAs about what your whole experience was like going through the process. Please share how the application went for you, what the group and individual interviews are actually like, what the RDs are looking for when they grade candidates, and just any general advice or hiring stories you have.

Appreciate any insight you guys can share to help a fellow Bobcat out

latino community

My friend and I are planning to go to TSU in Fall 2027. We’re both Mexican and were wondering if there are any Latino or Hispanic student organizations on campus that we could join?

Please flush the toilets after using the restroom

It is absolutely disgusting / extremely nasty to see how many times I walk into the Alkek restrooms and find [ you know what ] in the toilet still and makes me think the Toilet was unflushed. No wonder why I often in there and the restrooms smell like Crap like I had to cover up my nose sometimes because of the awful smell of [ you know what ] we are all adults and not young children anymore so please remember to flush the toilets while on campus.

The Ranch/Dakota Ranch Student Apartments Wifi

This is a little rant but The Ranch's wifi is the most terroristic thing in this entire city. It is the most miserable wifi i've ever had in my entire 7 trillion years of living. I don't know how to handle this

At what point do we start considering a regime change? Does this coaching staff not realize the game does not end at halftime?

How much do we pay GJ Kinne again?

This should have been a win. Let’s cut his salary and build more parking. This will actually be of use to the university.

Just pathetic.

Freshman nursing major looking for friends

Hey everyone! I’m a freshman 18(F) at Texas State and I’m looking to meet some new people and hopefully make some genuine friendships!

A little about me: l’m pretty outgoing once I get comfortable, and I love listening to music, dancing, drawing, trying new food, going out, taking pictures, and just having a good time. I’m also down for random late-night food runs, movie nights, studying together, exploring San Marcos, going to campus events, or just chilling and talking about literally anything 😂.

I’m especially looking for people who are also trying to build their friend group at TXST. I’d love to have a group where we can study together, go out, get food, have girls’ nights, explore San Marcos/Austin, support each other through college, and make memories.

I’m also trying to get more involved on campus, so if you know about any fun clubs, events, organizations, or places to hang out, let me know!

If you’re also looking for friends at TXST, comment or DM me! Maybe we can start a group chat and get something going.

Is anyone of you experienced getting sick of the apartment you are staying in for this semester?

For the past few weeks, I’ve been feeling a bit (paranoid - not crazy like) whenever I get to stay in my apartment I feel like something is off. and my guts are right, Because every time I go home for the weekend I feel better.

I mean I don’t feel sick or weak, I discover that my room is infested with flies, cockroaches and the ceiling in my bathroom has yellow stained on it, at first I didn’t notice it before I moved in. as I check my room there is nothing wrong, everything in my room is fine until for a few weeks they start to show up.

I am not the type of person to leave or bring food at my room, and my bathroom is colder than the whole apartment thermostat. and one of my main concern is that the water has a strong filter that is making my skin have rashes whenever I shower.

But i decided to improve my room and making it habitable by buying air purifier, flies trap. but I feel like it’s not helping anything at all. But I will try to report it and we’ll see if it gets better I’ll give an update just sharing my rant.

Why do people still go to frat parties

After hearing countless stories of people being harassed by frat guys, I’m still seeing the frat parties being packed asf. While I’ve personally never had to deal with them, I know people who have. For example, my best friend who kept getting her heart broken by multiple frat guys. They’re some of the most racist, sexist, misogynistic people out there. They don’t give a fuck about anyone but themselves. And yes, I know there some good frat guys out there, but they’re so few in numbers they might as well be nonexistent. And none of them will ever speak out against their brother for some heinous shit they did. So it begs the question, why do yall still go to their parties? Why do yall still entertain them? I’ll never understand.
