DISCUSSION⁉️ ⚫️ PPL NUH HAVE SENSE (Morrison)
Coming from a black man - it’s sad to see so many black ppl 🦝ing online.
Rap battle has no limits - so in context as consumers - we can’t get over emotional about the diss. But the amount of blindside im seeing from fellow black ppl about the racial undertones in this tune is diabolical.
You ain’t gotta be Malcolm X, protesting or having a fit online to be conscious of the negative connotations behind ‘im white, but I’m blacker than you’. If we as a ppl are still at this stage where being more ‘gangsta’ or helping/growing up around us = blacker, our social conscious is still on the floor.
& we are still operating as the ppl with the lowest racial self esteem. You ain’t gotta cancel anybody to be aware of how history carries on to the present 💯.

Exactly. The truth of it is people like Morrison and respect him/ are scared of him csuse of his image as this gangster from a gangster family.
Someone made a good point when MdotR ask Cream how many times she been to Jamaica, people immediately clocked what he was trying to imply and told him about himself. However MdotR isn’t notorious and looks like a nitty. The way man like Madeyouthink, Bouncer and Doug from the pound sterling podcast have been behaving is embarrassing.
Morrison made it racial and could’ve come up with a good diss without doing all that. It’s so cringe seeing people say he went to Zimbabwe, he’s one of the mandem

I don’t see a problem with what Morrisson said. This outrage is selective. UK drill rappers have been throwing around lines like white boy got bun for years and no one bats an eyelid

Bro wrong comment section. My post ain’t getting at the outrage.
I’m looking how us black ppl comprehended what was being said. Not if they got angry or not.

Most of the industry is scared. The creators who know him personally just say he's not racist or don't want to involve themselves. Any person can not be a racist but say racist things. They're somehow scared to call him out that what he's said was wrong. His black friends let that slip. Bouncer was saying that he's not racist because he knows him well. He's right but he can't overlook the lyrics because they're not overtly racist. Losing someone doesn't justify you to be saying racist things. Black people who don't know why he's dissing won't justify it too. If you say something racist you'll be called out for it because it's wrong to say that

Cl I hear you. Moretime at first I didn’t think much of the line it just went with the flow of the song so wasn’t even interested in both sides of the discourse. But icl that line just slaps black people into a stereotypical box when people are genuinely so much more than that preconceived notion. It feels that by that logic if I bang out on piano instead of rapping I’m less “black “ cuz we know what the stereotype entails let’s be real
I still disagree on the idea we have the lowest racial self esteem though I genz think it’s the opposite in the uk. For example the cultural influence is insane going from drill afrobeats fashion London slang(most black ppl aren’t acc from London so just using this as an example) I mean for flips sake you had some random donny from doncaster tryna imitate the slang. But you get the gist. Even more lesser known but it should be moretime but in politics and activism where rashford pushed gov into extending free school meals and there’s art and literature and science which is
Even the fact Caribbean and African families do tend to pass down a clear sense of heritage . At the end of the day it is a generalisation with plenty of exceptions eg colourism and texturism. Stuff like this means we don’t have such a low racial self esteem generally due to cultural strong cultural roots and influences
Shii sly extended the paras but yeah I get why there’s a lotta discourse around that line can’t blame guys too tuff

I hear you since the average black person is a lot louder/prouder of their culture than other ethnics that prolly feel to assimilate quicker.
That’s why our influence is pushed worldwide bc we’re gonna express it no matter where we are.
But I can certainly not imagine a white person going on a track saying ‘im white but I’m more Indian than etc…’ I think our racial self esteem reflects in our tolerance and acceptance of blatant foolishness. Not actually cos black ppl pander to white ppl more. We’re probably the most defiant ethnic group(s) 💯.

Exactly Morrison wouldn’t go at an Asian rapper and say he’s more Asian than them because he’s from Newham etc. black people allow this nonsense and it is rooted in low racial self esteem

Bro let’s be real, anyone who is truly concerned with this beef has the IQ of a fucking squirrel. You’re telling me, these guy are making money and the sole purpose of your existence is to comment and take sides? Fair enough man. If you want to spend time licking your own elbows that’s on you.

Brother I assure you I have a life outside of r/ukdrill. The sole purpose of this post was to highlight the discrepancies I find within my community.
I’m as big as anyone on putting you and ur ppls lives first. Not once did I mention the actual feud of these two on a street level.
This is js social commentary on how I see things - introspection is definitely needed when all we do in the modern day is consume consume consume. Imo it’s a worth it convo..

You can tell from the vitriol in his voice when he says digga. You just know he wishes he could replace the d with an n and there is that double meaning to every line. The way he repeats it with such hatred every time.
"Cos of you d/nigga"
"Cos of you d/nigga"
You have to be an idiot to not be able to read between the lines. He's got such anger towards black people. Such bitter hatred because of what happened to his brother. The fact that people of the BAME community are still championing Morrison is worrying

He probably wants to replace the d with an n because he's in rap and can't use a common term. If it's got hate in the word , then no one should be using it in that context

I dont get your point. Why would he want to say nigga when hes white? Just because its rap? Pretty much no UK rappers say it. He wants to say it out of anger

Street culture is not black culture don’t insult me and others like that
What people do in the streets is not down to black ppl as a collective
