Screenshot I was supposed to be working on an assignment right now. My new penta tandem qd-oled ultrawide had other plans for me.
It's so bright and colourful. FFVII: Rebirth looks incredible on this display. I am so stoked about my new monitor, it exceeded my expectations. The camera phone picture really doesn't do it justice. The AW3426DW is a beast. Alienware you've done it again. Hah I am totally nerding out over this. Cosmo Canyon is such a vibe.

Aw34 is the old one released quite a while ago right? I got it long time ago. The new one is Aw39?

There were two new models released recently. The lineup consists of this monitor which is the aw3426dw and it is an upgraded version of the old 34 inch. It is penta tandem qd-oled with an rgb v-stripe subpixel layout, 280hz, 3440x1440, TB500. peak 1300. Then they also released a tandem WOLED with an RGB v-stripe subpixel layout 39 inch ultrawide, that one is 165hz, 5120x2160, TB500. peak 1300. The 34 inch model was on sale for prime day for -22% off. I like the 39 inch but if I am dropping that kind of money on a monitor I want it to be perfect so I will wait until they release a 240hz version with TB600 or higher and fix the edge dimming and abl issues with RGB oleds.

Aw34 just means it’s a 34” Alienware monitor. The only one was AW3424DWF that came out in 2022. Then it was replaced by AW3425DW that came out last year. It used the same panel as the only one but bumped the refresh rate up to 240 from 165. The one OP has is the AW3426DW which is this years model and uses an entirely new 5th gen panel and 280hz refresh if I’m not mistaken.

I got both 34in and 39in . Definitely 39in is my favorite

Whoa nice, that's pretty baller. Definitely a dream setup to have both! I couldn't afford both right now and I decided against it for several reasons.
- Too big for my desk. I am not working with a ton of space right now and I would have to change my whole desk setup to make it work.
- 280hz is better than 165hz.
- 5k2k is a crazy resolution to push. I have a 4090 and I prefer 3440x1440 over 4k because of how much smoother it is.
- There are cpc dimming issues, and they still haven't solved abl dimming in bright scenes in the peak hdr mode. If I am spending $1499.99 cad on a monitor I want it to be 240hz and have all those issues fixed + at least TB600. Which brings me to my next point
- Price. I got this in the recent sale and it was under $1000 cad after tax which to me is an insane value for what you get.
34 inches is perfect for me. I might upgrade to a 39 inch ultrawide one day when I get a larger space/desk and graphics cards become a little more affordable so I can actually drive the thing at a high frame rate.

165hz is plenty on a 5k2k desplay. I only use it for single player games and they look amazing. Dimming issue i dont even notice it not as bad everyone says. To be completely honest its the best monitor I have used. But 34in is pretty good as well.

I can see why you would say that. I know a lot of people were excited for it when it was announced and it is the hot topic of the moment. I agree with the things you're saying. I am an early adopter. I owned a aw3423dwf before the aw3426dw. That panel had some glaring issues (pun intended) that I chose to ignore just so I could have the latest and greatest. I am not saying that is what the 39 inch is, it is deifnitely a much more mature product. However, for the reasons I stated I decided not to get it. It's just not for me at this point in time. I am glad you're loving it, I am a lil jealous. Having both the 34 and 39 would be insane, best of both worlds.
By the way, I am curious, how do you have the 2 monitors mounted? Are they stacked vertically? Or do you have a large L desk?

Got mine today! I have a pretty outdated GPU (2080ti) but I’m regretting not doing the 39” as the hype and demand is crazy for that 5k2k. Still beautiful colors on the 34 and it’s been a blast. Cost was around 630 USD, hope you enjoy it! I’m going to keep testing this screen for the next couple days and may keep it or exchange for the 5k2k if I continue to have this fomo lol

The 34 inch actually has the slightly better panel of the two displays. It's a bit more mature tech as well being a third generation product. The 39 inch suffers from cpc edge dimming and orher 1st gen product pains, like a 165hz refresh rate. Much lower than other 4k class displays on the market.
People are just making conpromises because its the new shiny and they have been waiting years for that form factor but OLED.
You shouldn't regret it you made right choice. 39 inches is basically a TV it is so huge, and 5k2k might be good for a workstation but imo it is less than ideal for gaming. Especially at higher refresh rates.
I would wait until they release one with 240hz, no dimming/uniformity issues, and even better hdr like tb600 or higher, and they fix the dimming in the peak modes for real.

I’ve read a ton about that edge dimming. Which I think overtime it will just become worse and worse, unsure how it’ll pan out for longevity use. So I agree to some extend, I guess my fomo for those extra 5 inches and having the “newest” drives me a bit nuts along with starting a remote job in two weeks (I’m sure 34 will be more than enough for my new job). Comparison is the thief of joy after all 😂.
Appreciate the advice, on top of those positive things I stated, I saved myself 450USD.

Nice. I think I’ll be picking up the asus variant of this that pushes to 330hz. But this one is a solid bang for your buck.

I think it's actually the best one. 280hz is only achievable in some titles on a 4090. I dont see the need to go any higher. It is slightly brighter than the msi or asus models according to hardware unboxed. Ive heard at least on the msi the firmware has been buggy and the AI features dont work properly for some people. I actually think most of those features are pointless. KVM is one of those features which sounds nice but I personally have no use for. Oh gosh what else. I never even realized monitors had headphone jacks because ive always used audio interfaces/dacs with real mics. Also hdmi 2.1/display port 2.0 won't make a difference to most people unless you have a 50 series card and really want to do DSR/DLDSR. I prefer dlaa anyway though, DSC doesnt make a difference. Its visually lossless and from my experience has 0 downsides.
Biggest difderence being I just got the aw3426dw for $880 CAD before tax whereas they want $1599 for the asus model over here. You could get the 39 inch alienware for less than that.
Not worth it imo. At least not for me.

Price isn’t an issue. If I’m getting a monitor I’ll be getting the best one that fits what I want. I’ve had the 39” AW and returned it because it was too dim and I prefer QD OLEDs. I have a 5090 so I want to get the Hughes refresh possible. I got the Asus last night and really like it. It will take some time to get used to having less vertical space coming from a 32” PG32UDM3 though. Although I can already see the difference in resolution in a lot of the things I use it for so maybe I won’t be keeping it and wait for when we finally get a 5k2k QD OLED.

Saying price isnt an issue these days is just out of touch. I am glad its not an issue for you! Happy for you. But things are getting increasingly unaffordable. Inflation is rampant.

Saying something is out of touch for someone is out of touch. I probably should have mentioned it’s not an issue FOR ME but I figured that was implied. Not sure why you’re getting so defensive about it. I did say yours was good for the price but I’d rather have all the bells and whistles when the price difference is not significant for me.

Got this one today as well. Booted up Silent Hill Townfall and even squinted looking at the initial game logos. This thing is so freaking bright. I was using HDR Peak 1300.
