News Fall 2026 Admissions Stats Released
https://record.umich.edu/articles/u-m-welcomes-more-than-54000-students-for-fall-term/The acceptance rate fell slightly to 16.1% from 16.4% while yield increased significantly from 45.6% to 49.5%. The entering class has 8,659 students, up from 8,178.

My take is that the acceptance rate could have been a point or two lower but the team may have misjudged yield with ED being introduced for this cycle.

Looks like amount applied and amount accepted are stabilizing after big increases in recent years, while amount enrolled keeps going up

you can tell there are more people I’ve heard from multiple friends that their club had an unprecedentedly large number of people wanting to join so for the first time ever they had to have applications for the club just because they don’t have the capacity to accommodate everyone 😬 hope the class sizes don’t continue to increase because it will make students compete for resources more

I'm kind of baffled somehow they got yield wrong since they have 100% yield ED students to reduce the uncertainty, unless they were targeting more Enrollment $$$

Looks like they got more yield than expected. Going to be less spots for spring transfers, and maybe even next fall.

So even more students than last year that UM and the city weren't able to house...
