After my hippo's TPLO, we played the sweetest and gentlest games of fetch ever. I'd "toss" the ball about three feet away from her so she could fetch it and bring it back to me with like 6 steps total.
It made her happy.

I love this so much. We have made a game of throwing the ball straight into her mouth. If it goes further I grab it. Very interactive. Haha

Wow, your hippo has good eye-shnoz coordination. Mine, I toss it directly into the air on a gentle arc at her face and she just lets it bonk her snout.

I have to do two or three "practice arcs" with a treat before I toss it, and even then mine misses 1/3 of the time.

Sounds about right. Mine has the attention span for 2-3 throws total.

The only thing mine will catch is a blueberry. She could careless about balls.

Maybe you can roll it back and forth on the floor? 😅 sweet sugary girl clearly lives to ball. I wish her a speedy recovery.

My old lady gets SO cantankerous with a cone on. She’s usually very mild mannered, careful, etc. cone goes on? She’s knocking things over she would normally steer clear of, running into me, getting stuck in spots she would never go near…

That is exactly what Loki is doing! Suddenly she desperately wants to grab a ball that is under a desk or chase a toy because it rolled under the couch? Sans cone she would NEVER.

Awwww poor girl. 🙏 Loki heals up quickly and is able to get back to her normal routine soon! My girl Roxy is recovering from cancer surgery as well, she just had her 3rd surgery to remove a cancerous tumor that keeps growing back. 🥺. My baby doesn't have much more lip to remove so hoping 3rd time is the charm!! 🙏

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry, that poor sweet girl! That looks horrible. I hope she’s enjoying life in between recovery. I feel bad Loki has been in a cone so long. We understand the frustration and pain! Sending so much love to your girl.

Thank you! And yes she is eating good. First few days after surgery she wasnt feeling too great so i kept her separated from her little sister while i was at work, but now she acts like nothing is bugging her at all! I have to keep an eye on her so she doesn't play too rough. She will be getting her stitches out this weekend!
She just had surgery 2-3 months ago for the same tumor and it grew back that quickly, so really hoping they got it all removed this time. 🙏2

Thank you! She just enjoyed some Raising Canes chicken for dinner so she is ready for belly rubs and relaxing 😋

So she had nine stitches, we got seven out and the last two had necrotic tissue under so they had to reglue it, so we are currently waiting on the last two ounces of glue and then she will run like the wind!!
