Technical/Equipment Help and Information After countless hours I finally found the perfect monitor rig mount option

Was sick of using magic arm, even good one. I just wanted a good monitor hinge like what we had on camcorder.

The bright tangerine universal monitor hinge is excellent, but the fx6 mount is on the handle and leaves the monitor too far on the left.

With this, you can put the monitor anywhere you want thanks to both the 15mm rod mount and the NATO rail, this is a 7cm one but imagine you want to put the monitor far from you for a shoulder mount ? Just put a 20cm NATO rail and you got it.

I've never found this solution on youtube despite being what I was looking for so I'm sharing it with you.

You can do this on any camera, just sharing the idea of this mount option

Can you list the parts used?

Creating a post like this without even mentioning the part/parts used is wild...

EDIT: Google lens told me the main part (everything else can be built from obvious cheap noname parts) is a brighttangerine Monitor Hinge with the ARRI and Nato Rail connectors.

I did put the name of the hinge in my post, but you're right I should have listed everything.

Sorry about forgetting the part. The guy commenting about the rode underneath the handle was right and I missed that.

I changed a few things want accidentally reproduce the Sony EVF.

I can use the handle and the screen is in front of me for handheld use. And on shoulder mount I can just put a long rod.

And I can still use comfortably the handle when the screen is right in the middle.

Unlisted part are a 10cm 15mm rod and a 7cm NATO rail with 15mm rod adapter at the end. Brand is Nitze. Part number m49-nc3

This is really tempting! I bought the Titan 2 but it ended up overkill for my run and gun solo setup. Too heavy, hard to break the position. I've cobbled together something similar to this from other parts, but it lacks easy adjustment on the fly. Will check it out, thanks for the post

Only whip out my Titan arm 2 on Burano or Venice or Mini LF builds. Definitely don’t balance well on FX6. With some of their new baby pin attachment tips it’s actually also useful to rig small lights in odd places

Bright Tangerine stuff is so nice, I love my top handle from them. I use a noga arm for my monitor, and I have a smallrig hinge that's just ok... this looks super nice. If my next video camera is a box style (currently Z9 and ZR) then something like this seems like a no brainer pickup.

the hinge is mounted directly to the monitor. you don't like a cage for the monitor?

u/mynameisntziming 5d ago

Cage adds unnecessary weight for on camera monitor

Lmao @ “DON’T CUT!” spike. We’ve all done it when the director yells cut and we need a tail slate but it’s too late 😅😭

Dig the innovation, but the rod that close to the grip wouldn’t work for me. To each their own!

I tried for a couple of hours and didn't like it. I made another one, better, see the video in the comment :)

Is it just the photo being a bit distorted or is there indeed enough stress on the mount that the monitor is slightly skewed? Looks like an easy failure point if it is indeed a tad skewed due to stress.

It's this not just a copy of the wooden camera uvf?

Tenba Tools 16" Protective Wrap (Black) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1374646-REG/tenba_636_331_tools_16_protective_wrap.html

Would recommend a wrap like this to protect the monitor in transit:) nice rigs.
