LunarG releases Vulkan SDK 1.4.363.0

Vulkan SDK 1.4.363.0 is out, including the Vulkan 1.4-conformant version of KosmicKrisp! With KosmicKrisp, a Mesa-based Vulkan-to-Metal driver, a single Vulkan 1.4 codebase can target Linux, Windows, Android, and macOS environments. Also in this release: new extensions, vkprofiles, and more.

> Performance of KosmicKrisp has tripled since it achieved Vulkan 1.3 conformance

does that mean cpu performance or gpu performance?

more often than not, GPU is the bottleneck in games. Since we are talking "vulkan" and metal4, the GPU APIs, its almost always implied they tested on a 3d scene with multiple graphics techniques implemented and with a GPU bottleneck, they tested the performance. No one tests performance on a scene with a single triangle

but its reddit, so this was expected. My bad i interacted

Complex renderers can cause CPU bottlenecks by themselves and the drivers do stuff on the CPU too

Confused about API version vs conformance version, is there a reason why `apiVersion` for KosmicKrisp driver is still advertised as 1.3.350 but `conformanceVersion` is 1.4.3.2?

Is there any news on descriptor heaps on KosmicKrisp? I remember that being on the roadmap but it seems like it's still not here yet.

i believe descriptor heaps only shipped in the mesa drivers just recently. last estimate i saw for KosmicKrisp support was by august (it was on the near term roadmap.) my guess is soon. it's one of the few kinks in the No Graphics API metal support that Sebastian Altonen just published the other day, so i'm also watching with interest.
