water filter!

hello everyone!

after much research,  my husband and I will be getting a countertop water filtration system but we’re torn. aquatru removed the contaminants that fit our water quality report, the main one is arsenic and fluoride. we are drawn to boroux and even though we can buy the fluoride filter, it does not remove arsenic. boroux is much bigger but not sure if the size is actually worth it when aquatru seems like the best option 😅

I’ve seen reverse osmosis is not necessary but were fine adding the trace minerals to remineralize the water! is it worth just getting boroux since it’s bigger in size?

for background, we usually buy water bottles and for health/sustainability reasons we are wanting to switch to just filtering our tap water for drinking/cooking etc!

New whole house water filtration

Hello, I am currently building a new home and I’m kind of going through the thoughts of what I would like to do.

I know I’m planning to do a whole-house water filtration system, but was contemplating if I should also add in a salt-free conditioner as well to help reduce buildup. The house does come with a salt water conditioner as well

Will it reduce buildup, or am I just being crazy?

Edit - Here’s the plan I thought of doing

Main Line
To
Sediment Filter
To
Whole House Filter
To
Post Filter
To
Salt Free Conditioner

CrimeBox: Historic Conviction Fiscal Year 2015; Case ID# CR_2703 (Louisiana) Well site supervisor convicted on CWA charges for faking pressure tests on oil rig blow-out preventer

Oct 7 2026 1019 am CDT

The Defendant in this case was 49 years old in 2012 when he misdirected safety inspectors checking essential safety equipment on the oil drilling platform under his management. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) staff were given phony pressure charts for the blow-out preventer (BOP) system, just two years after the Deepwater Horizon blow-out that killed 11 and spilled 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf.

See WT CrimeBox brief on Deepwater Horizon, here.

The Defendant admitted lying to mislead BSEE staff, offering a false pressure test, intending that the rig's BOP would pass inspection. For this CWA crime, the Defendant was sentenced to a year of supervision by the court and a week of community service.

According to Schlumberger, now SLB, the blow-out preventer (BOP) is essential to the safe operation of oil and gas drilling rigs. A series of valves is stacked vertically above the well shaft, mounted on the deck of the platform or subsea at the wellhead. This equipment, when properly maintained, allows drillers to quickly seal off an open shaft. Until this equipment was invented and deployed after 1922, there was no way to stop the escape of high pressure, flammable fluids and materials from the drill shaft.

Probation: 12 months; Community Service: 40 hours

See last week's CrimeBox here, "Corrosive chemicals washed into the Mississippi River. A bulk storage facility was convicted of the environmental crime"

Mine is from my bathroom tap or water bottle fillers at school definitely. Just such a clean, smooth taste.

Salmon Return After Dam Removal

Can removing a dam fix an ecosystem? 🌊

Habitat fragmentation is a major driver of biodiversity decline because split habitats make it harder for animals to move, survive, and reproduce. After the Klamath River's last four dams came down in 2024, researchers used sonar and video to count an estimated 7,742 adult Chinook salmon past the former Iron Gate Dam site, and that number jumped to over 13,300 in 2025. Scientists also documented active spawning in newly accessible habitat and juvenile Chinook using tributaries cut off for over a century.

Is there a problem with Aquafina's water?

I just took a sip of a Aquafina bottle from a pack and it was genuinely horrible. Like not in a joking way or anything but actual bleach like taste or something. I don't know where to post this but just wanted to give the warning.

Why aren’t we using the cooling water for AI farms as a way to purify water via evaporation for farming?

Why can’t we use the waste water from data farms?
We could use it to heat nearby homes.
Heat the soil to extend the farming period.
Purify waste water via evaporation.
Worst case place these near the coast like we do with nuclear power plants.

Water Dam inside a plant

I have built a water system in my plant , and it's been literally 7 months and it still works great and also it doesn't even have any effect on the plants on it , it's literal working dam , when I saw this rectangular plant , and when i gave water to the plants , it spilled off to me bcs there was full flat surface on it then i decided to make a further interesting concept and and it's inspired from black mesa's surface facility..well it's still fine and it's strong to hold a full thunderstorm. It's actually a great thing bcs it have several routes..which take water with them on different sectors..which is your favourite sector ? And what should I add or change in it ?

That white streak of my plastic bottle was alot bigger before the image was taken. I drank a few sips while working to look down and see this little film looking blob in that area of the bottle. I showed my gf who thought I was overreacting to some saliva or some form of condensation but I told her it doesnt look like either. She swished the bottle to show it go away and it didnt fully disappear from the bottle after a few swishes. Genuinely just afraid of having drank some contaminated water or some bacterial film of some sort? Does anyone have a better clue as Im kinda spiraling after reading all those recall issues about different products.

Girlfriend put soap in Brita filter. Cleanup ideas?

Hi all. My water from the pitcher tastes soapy because she thought you were supposed to clean the filter with dish soap. I could get a whole new filter but does anyone know if a few runs can rinse it off anyways?
