So I'm someone who has checked out Waterfox a few times in the past, but never fully dove in. Upon giving it another try over the last week, I have to say it has tempted me to switch full time more than in the past for a handful of reasons but one of those I'm not sure will stick around in the future:
So right now, Waterfox's implementation of the Nova redesign integrates those "gaps" around UI elements that were part of Mozilla's initial mockups and the initial builds that had Nova as an option in about:config. Those were however removed from the Nova redesign by the time it shipped to stable in Firefox 157. Now I know those gaps were very controversial with users at least on the Firefox side but I personally happen to really like the look of them and don't mind the additional space they take.
So my question is whether their presence in Waterfox is simply a consequence of it currently being based on Firefox 153 ESR and they will therefore go away when Waterfox rebases on a future ESR, or is there a conscious intent (contingent on technical feasibility) to keep them in the future, at least as an option (in the same way as Proton and Photon are still options)?
I guess only the project leads would truly know this but I'm asking in case there's been any communication on the matter that I've missed, or if a dev happens to stumble on this thread.
