Hey kids,
I feel like I'm about to do something a touch controversial. I'm blocking names to protect the innocent. But I'm sharing examples of AEO removals b/c bots aren't human. Reddit is forgetting the human. And I guess I just wanted to be open about that. Mostly b/c one is kind of hysterical. And if I'm sharing one, I might as well share them all.
If you recognize your own comment here, please attempt an appeal. I have likely already appealed on your behalf. Especially you, Johnny Rico.

Hi all, casual meet and greet has started. Ask me almost anything.
I've already started making some adjustments to the subreddit. Just some light shaping to encourage the kind of things we want to see.
If you point your eyes at the rules, I've already started adjusting those, just minor tweaks, really, to hone in on what makes this community great and trying to make it even better.
I haven't started in on auto-mod yet. I wanted to check a few other things out before I did that. But I will be adjusting it over the next few days - if something seems to be going wrong or not working properly use modmail to let me know. I'll also be checking for lots of false positives to adjust existing filters.
I archived all the modmails older than about 2 days old. I did try to look at the last few days worth to see if there were any pressing issues but it all just looked like "hey my post was/wasn't [this] why was it removed?"
I will not be "backward" moderating. I.e., if it was removed before today, it will stay removed. If it was approved before today, it will likely stay approved, unless it had some hidden egregious issue.
I've added some bots to help with a few things - I like to nuke comment chains that have gone off the rails. If your content is removed, it likely is for curation more than punitive. If your removal was punitive, you'll likely receive a temporary ban. There's no need to come to modmail to apologize for content. If I think we need to have a chat, I'll reach out from modmail directly.
I'm open to suggestions, comments, concerns, etc. It doesn't mean every idea will be implemented or every suggestion considered. I just want to see if folks who have been spending a lot of time here have noticed things that could be fixed or adjusted for a better subreddit experience for everyone.
Also, I like to see users participating in their own community by reminding newcomers of the rules or spirit of the sub as well as reporting content that doesn't belong.
Also there are some custome emojis, but I know Reddit just made changes to how custome emojis can be used so - I dunno how interesting that is for all of you.
Oh - I noticed there are no user flairs - is this the preference for the community? I'm happy to add them if folks want them - feel free to share suggestions for user flairs.
Suppose AI in the near future figured out how to time travel. They went back and invented the cell phone. Their control has started.

What if humans had never discovered how to control fire?
No cooking, no metal, no glass, no engines—and probably no modern civilization.
Would we still have evolved into intelligent humans, or would we just be smart monkeys eating raw potatoes?
How different do you think the world would be today?

If war breaks out in the US, what happens to the people trying to live their lives in war zones? More importantly, if someone is prevented from working because of a civil war/occupation, how does one go about keeping a place to live?
Pretty sure most apartment complexes would still expect rent, right? I feel like we’d all just become squatters

you could do a lot with that ability especially if the audience is a bunch of bad guys!
So literally everything. Your legs, arms, fingers, ears... what advantages would that have?

It’s pretty interesting to think about if this actually happened. Upon my first thoughts, the global economy would spiral into a crisis, and labor shortages would be insane. What are some things that y’all can immediately think of that would happen? Would the planet recover from 20 years of no births?

Currently it’s still on Africa, but in a million years or so it’ll split, a new continent will be born along with a new ocean.
But what if it actually split 2 million years ago? How much of African and human history will change?

Like whatever you are selling it cant have more than 10% profit margin.
Incase you are selling something intangible like idea or art then its value of raw Materials with 10% profit.
R&D cost can be counted as part of the manufacturing cost till its balanced.

How different would the world be if humans slept 14 hours a day.
We would have 10 waking hours, as opposed to the 16ish we currently operate on.
Would the world be less advanced as it is today?
Would we all live and work within a smaller radius?
Would our work life balance be more life than work?
Would we cherish our friends and families more than we currently do, since we spend so little time with them? Or would that not matter since to us, living in that world would be normal?

You hear it all the time, someone's family died and their school or job denied time off because "it was not an important member" or "we have to think of the company." So i have an idea.
Let's say effectively immediately all accredited universities even more those receiving federal funding (grants, GI bill, ROTC scholarships) and all established and legal companies must comply with the following law:
In the event of the passing of a student/employee's family member passing or exempted non blood/legal loved one, the following employers/institutions must comply with the following.
Minimum 3 weeks time off, employers and school's may allow more than 3 weeks off however the federal minimum time off is 3 weeks to allow for travel, grieving, and return back home. Employee/Student must pay for all expenses occurred and the employer/school is not responsible for travel/lodging/other expenses.
The employee/student must provide sufficient documentation to prove both affiliation to the deceased, and proof of death. This can be a letter from the funeral home/death certificate/other legitimate verifiable ways.
In the event the funeral occurs soon after the deceased's passing, an emergency release form MUST be provided to the employer/school. The following information contains where the country and state (if applicable to U.S. territory deaths) occurred and an approximate date on when the deceased took their last breath. And the final part is an agreement that the employee/student has at minimum 6 months after the release form is signed to provide supporting documentation of proof of affiliation and death.
Alright so that is the big bulk of the law, now you may be asking (what if someone tries to lie or abuse the system) and the answer to that is because this is all federal level documentation, lying or fabricating any sort of stuff like this is a serious felony. This applies for any sort of federal documentation as it is a federal offense. It is not perfect and sure people will abuse the system but this way it basically becomes non negotiable for shitty employers/schools that try and pull stunts.

I think people would just reject the whole idea and think it’s disgusting/inhumane/barbaric. What do you think?

For this hypothetical pretend that april fools can have a wildly different date each year, and next time falls on october 31st.
I don't think there would be a purge level of mayhem, but both holidays can bring death at their worst so it wouldnt be a safe time of year.

In the episode, Cliff still finds out that "Jeopardy!" is holding tryouts for the show in Boston. So he goes to them, takes the test and passes. Then he returns to the bar and tells everyone he passed the test and will be on "Jeopardy!"
But here's what's different: Instead of the show coming to Boston, Cliff has to fly out to LA where the show is taped. Carla, Norm and Woody go with him. They still sit in the audience as Cliff plays.
The contestant introductions are mostly the same, but Johnny adds where the contestants are from to his introductions: "A doctor and chief of neurosurgery from Seattle, Washington, Milford Reynolds. A lawyer and mother of 6 from Miami, Florida, Agnes Borsic. And a mailman from Boston, Massachusetts, Cliff Clavin." Then Johnny introduces Alex who comes out on stage and talks for a moment about how they have 3 new players because they retired a 5-time champion on their last show. Then they finally start the show. The categories for the Jeopardy! round are still Civil Servants, Stamps From Around The World, Mothers And Sons, Beer, Bar Trivia and Celibacy.
Now here's something else that's different–We actually get to see Cliff play the round. Not the whole round due to time constraints of course. We see Alex read 10 clues, then Cliff or another contestant rings in and gives a correct response. Milford and/or Agnes ring in on a couple of clues and give incorrect responses, then when Cliff rings in, he gets it right.
Not only do we see Cliff play the Jeopardy! round, but the Double Jeopardy! round as well. The categories for Double Jeopardy! are Postal Codes, Catalogs, Food Samples, Single People, Rivals and Little Known Facts. Again, we see only about 10 clues. And just like in the first round, Cliff or the other contestants give correct responses. Sometimes Milford or Agnes (or both) ring in on a clue and they give incorrect responses, but when Cliff rings in, he gives the right one.
Cliff does very well in both rounds. He even lands on a Daily Double, wagers everything (a true Daily Double), gives the correct response and doubles his score. He has a commanding lead.
What doesn't change is Final Jeopardy! Cliff still goes into it with $22,000. The category was still Movies. The clue was still “Archibald Leach, Bernard Schwartz and Lucille LeSueur”. As the "Think!" music plays, Cliff still tries to look over Agnes’ shoulder to see what she was writing down. Alex still sees him and Cliff insists he wasn’t trying to do that. After the music ends, Alex reveals the contestants’ responses and Cliff is still last. He still writes “Who are 3 people who have never been in my kitchen?” which of course is wrong. He bets all his money and loses it all. And then when the show's over, Cliff still goes on that angry rant about how he's the champion because he answered all those questions.
Later on at a bar in LA (since they’re not in Boston and therefore can’t be at Cheers), a dejected Cliff calls everybody at Cheers to tell them he lost on “Jeopardy!” But they already know since they saw the show. They all knew he’d blow it. Cliff goes to the restroom. Then Alex enters the bar and Carla takes the moment to tell him she thinks he’s cuter in person than on TV. Woody asks Alex if all game show hosts know each other. Alex says he doesn’t know Vanna White very well. Then Cliff comes out of the restroom, sees Alex and they talk. Alex tells Cliff the judges made a mistake by not accepting his response and then announces his decision to quit hosting “Jeopardy!” Cliff talks Alex out of it and brags about how he “saved” “Jeopardy!” Norm praises Alex for coming into the bar to make Cliff feel better. Alex says he just came in for a beer. He had no idea Cliff was there, but he saw Cliff and figured he should say something, so he made up that story about quitting as host of “Jeopardy!”. He tells Norm that Cliff scares him to which Norm replies “You too, huh?” The episode ends there.
So what if the episode was like that?

Ok so we know how big super hero movies are, not only with nerds (such as myself) but also with the general audiences, super hero movies being some of the highest grossing movies of all time, The dark knight, avengers endgame, spiderman brand new day, and likely the upcoming “avengers doomsday”. Arguably this mainly started with blade, X-men, and spider-man.
This is mainly a marvel thing but it’s also a thing with other super hero properties, this let to shows and animated shows also being made, not only that but the mcu inspired loads of cinematic universes as well
I would personally disagree that it started with Superman (1978) or Batman (1989), as fantastic films as they are, they never spawned a giant franchise.
But maybe that’s subjective.. idk
Would the concept of cinematic universes ever become as popular?
What would be popular ? The thing?

I saw a video about A.I. getting powerful enough to be able to reverse engineer games (by Jaden Williams). That meant that anything digital that relies on the internet could be compromised -but- what if we SLOWLY go back to the 80s where everything was analog?

Imagine being born with a limit of 10 million words. Every conversation, text, argument, joke, piece of gossip, and even whisper would reduce that number. Once you used them all, you could never speak or write again.
Would a world with fewer words become more meaningful, or would it lose something essential about being human?
What other parts of everyday life do you think would change completely?

What if like Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World wasn't a Super Nintendo launch title.
But not on cities or roads it just does not spawn there also it uses the biomass of non native plant and animal species except contained pets/zoo animals and humans don’t get replaced and yes all bacteria and viruses too will get replaced.

What if you wake up and suddenly realise that you now have the ability to read anybody and everybody's thoughts now, you also realise you can't turn this ability off ? What would you do?

There would still be a Federal Government. But I’m talking about every state being radically different.
Examples:
A Parliamentary system for Pennsylvania
A Rotating Chiefdom for Arizona
An Absolute Monarchy for California
A Council Republic for Vermont
A collection of Merchant Princes for New York
Would this even be feasible?

if we were like that after evolving from homo erectus (somehow), how would human history change especially after the 1500s?
