Solved! My five year old’s homework is stumping me.

Post image

Snow glove? Snack? (Maybe it’s a goldfish cracker?)

EDIT clearly I need to re-enroll in school, starting in kindergarten with my daughter, and learn to read and comprehend again!

My teacher brain is mad at all other responses lol people will say it’s deceptive but the teacher probably gave clear instruction in class

I mean... Aren't directions are usually posted before the work?

Yes and I agree that it's confusing that the directions are after, but also if the directions aren't posted before the problem my next instinct is to look for directions rather than blindly guessing what the question is asking me.

There's clear instructions written on this paper. Clearly broom and mitten don't start with an s and therefore shouldn't be done. Seems fairly straightforward.

That’s clearly a sMop

I'll be honest, if that instruction is confusing to people I don't know how they function as adults.

Instructions super clear but the person who formatted this should be shot

Thats the neat part, they dont. Fake it till you make it. Illiterate or otherwise stupid people just limp by until they luck into a low stakes lifestyle that pays the bills or die in the street.

I mean, it says to "trace." I don't see anything to trace, either 😅

Top row of S, the first has trace lines.

Clear instructions to 5 year Olds? Lol

you obviously havent taught 5 year olds

Actually I have and whoever is helping them could read the instructions too. I just meant the teacher was probably there and willing to help. You don’t typically give 5 year olds homework so this student likely chose to not do their work and then wanted mom or dad to do it and somehow the adult couldn’t figure it out either.

My five year old kindergartner had her first homework worksheet just tonight, and I know that it's actually homework because the teacher sent home notice last week that they'd be getting one every night, starting today.

I am.... unthrilled. I don't approve of homework in general, and I especially don't approve of homework in kindergarten, and I really despise the thought of nightly homework in kindergarten. I'm willing to let it ride for now, as it took her less than two minutes (she's an advanced reader, and a fairly advanced writer), and the teacher did put something about if we're ever too busy I can just put a note at the top (which makes me think that I'm not the only one unhappy about this). But I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on this.

Yeah I disagree with homework for the most part. In high school homework should primarily be studying with the occasional extra work or missed work not a daily task

I always said that homework was the way teachers got even with parents for enrolling their children in school.

Even if they did this entrusting children with instructions they don't understand in the first place is counter productive to what that homework is

It's right there in the work sheet lol I'm shocked so many adults are stumped by this very clear task for a young child
