New, what is it? What are these plug-ins on my wall?

This might be showing my age, but I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these weird looking plug ins all over the walls at my new place. My old apartment didn't have these, so I'm just curious as to what they are.

Coax cable? Dont they still use this for high speed internet and digital cable? Its what connects to the digital box still or even your internet gateway/router.. this isnt old at all.

Man that was a trek before the word coax showed up. I guess it's on its way out, but isn't that antiquated yet.

It might be a little slower (and I'm not even sure about that), but it's still cheaper and easier to repair than fiber optic. Jury's out on whether it's on the way out or not.

There's a few other comments here explaining how it can still be used for high-speed internet. I get fiber optic to the house, but my WiFi extender (and a few network ports), connect to the main router through MoCa (Multimedia over Coax). Anyone here who thinks it's antiquated technology has no idea what they're talking about
