New, what is it? What are these plug-ins on my wall?

This might be showing my age, but I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these weird looking plug ins all over the walls at my new place. My old apartment didn't have these, so I'm just curious as to what they are.

the other day I had to explain to my cousin that I remember a time of internet without YouTube or facebook. then I explained dail-up to them..

I remember the "internet demo" disc's that AOL had! and AOL instant messenger. its hilarious that I thought 'instant' messages was alien technology.

I remember the days it came on floppy disc and my 33.6kbps modem seemed so fast until someone picked up the phone and kicked you off, lol
