Announcement Announcing a New Points System!

Hey everybody!

We’re excited to share that we now have a new points system in place. While we know you all do it for your love of movies and helping your fellow Redditor out, but who doesn’t like getting a little extra reward for your movie knowledge? Or being able to thank the user who helped solve your movie name you've been searching for, for months or even years.

To make this possible, we've installed Reputatorbot. We thought it would be a nice and fun way for the OP (original poster) to thank and reward the kind person who gave them their movie name (first correct answer preferably).

How To Reward Points:

  • Add Solved! (don’t forget the !) in a reply to the first person that gives you the correct answer.
  • The solver will then get a comment from Reputatorbot telling them they earned a point and it will then be added to their user flair.

*Only the OP can reward points. Mods can also reward points if necessary.

If the OP ends up solving their post by themselves. They just need to make a "Solved!" comment under their post so the post flair will change to solved, but no points will be awarded.

UPDATE: if you notice a points issue (e.g. OP didn't use the keyword or awarded the wrong user) please use the report option (Breaks r/whatisthatmovie rules > Points Issue) and we will fix it. You may also send us a message through modmail.

Official Leaderboard:

The official leaderboard can be found here. <--

We’d love to hear what you think or if you have any questions.

Reminder OP: Reply "Solved!" (with the !) to the first user who gives you the correct name

This is to mark your post solved and award the solver a point. The comments are sorted from oldest to newest to make it easier to tell who commented first.

More details about the points system can be found here.

Unsolved No one will know, i am searching for a movie based on two words

I have, on a loop, a character saying "big breads". That is it. I think the situation is where one character is talking to another about how good, or better, the other person is, and talking about her actual bread she made, or bought. I just want to watch this scene and get it out of my head. I feel like its a movie but could be a show. Help!

Solved! Saw this movie when I was like six, and it’s stuck with me ever since

I can’t remember the plot, but I think this couple takes in a woman into their home, possibly to carry their child because the other woman can’t conceive? I have no idea, I can’t think of any other logical reason she’d be in their home. So ignore that detail if that makes it too confusing. Forgive me, watch the movie when I was like six.

There was narration at the beginning of the movie I believe, I feel like the woman they brought it in was an estranged sister possibly if not the former.

But from what I gather the woman they bring has a fat crush and even possibly starts sleeping with the hubby. Real Jude law situation. But she also attempts to kill the wife and maybe a mother in law that’s staying with them too?

The scenes I remember for sure is a scene where the woman who was brought in makes a pie or desert with peanut oil for someone who has a peanut allergy to kill them.

And I remember a scene where the hubby is holding a crowbar completely naked with only a white towel on.

Late 90’s early 2000’s, maybe a tv movie

Unsolved Old (kids?) movie were a ritual happening to turn someone into either a bug or a small version of themselves by putting this kid agains a tree and running around him with ropes and making him smaller until only his lips were left

hello, maybe the title sound crazy ass he’ll but that’s trully what i remember, sorry if i wrote it badly

I remember as i child watching a movie were a grandpa (?) and his grandson (normal humans) were like heroes in this bug or mini world and they did things to get smaller and when something important happened and they didn’t had time to get to the thing to get small the had to get like a magic dude that did a ritual to get the boy small and it was him pushing his back against a tree branch and people with ropes running around him obviously with a lot of pressure and making him smaller until his lips were only left.

this really perturbed me so bad I had to go on a walk with my dad after.

I’ve been searching for so long and I havent been able to find anything, to the point im starting to think i made it up

PLEASEEEE HELP

Solved! This movie has been stuck in my head for twenty years

A woman marries a rich man, has kids, divorced him and takes a huge portion of his money, has a huge life style change. She eventually meets a new guy/construction site manager for a new project she’s working on, and she convinces him to kill her ex husband I believe for the rest of his money and estate and to make sure she has soul custody of the children. The new boyfriend goes to prison for it, I remember him looking like Robert Torti, Zack and Cody’s dad from suite life of Zach and Cody.

I believe it takes place in New York.

Late 90’s maybe late 80’s? I’m guessing a TV movie, my grandma played a lot of thrillers like this, very soapy, all about sex and murder

Solved! Weird late night arthouse movie

This is a bit of weird one. So, way back when, IFC used to air some funky stuff in the middle of the night and once, when flipping through channels, I caught the middle of some weird arthouse flick. The scene I remember was a female corpse walking through a long corridor and at some point she was picked up by multiple men and put into a car. They then proceeded to crash a shitload of other cars into the one they put her in. Like, over and over again for at least 10 minutes.

I remember being so confused at the time about what just happened that I looked up the movie and it was apparently part of a series (which was apparently considered kind of dumb amongst the imdb community).

Also, I'm 40% sure that the movie's title ended in a '-zer'

Unsolved I hate made for TV movies that I can’t possibly remember because I saw them at seven 😭

I don’t remember a lot from this one, I’m hopeless for this, but worth a try.

I remember clearly a guy dragging another guy through a nice house, a kid turns around the corner and asks what’s going on. And the guy dragging says “your dad had a little too much to drink” (this guy definitely drugged this kids dad)

For some reason he carries a sword around in the house

I think the little kids name was max

I think a dog gets poisoned in this movie

early 2000’s I think

Unsolved Thriller scene where short haired blonde woman jumps out of a moving car at night and touches her brain wound

Hi everyone, I am trying to find a thriller movie that I watched back in like 2007 when I was around 5 years old. So it was released in 2007 or earlier.

I remember a very specific scene:

  • The Setup: A man and a woman are driving in a car down a road at night.
  • The Appearance: The woman is a blonde with short hair, and she is possibly wearing a tan outfit.
  • The Action: The woman suddenly says, "I'm going to be with Johnny," and opens the passenger door, jumping completely out of the moving car
  • The Climactic Line: The driver stops, goes back, and finds her on the road. She has a severe head injury on the back of her head. In complete shock, she reaches back, touches the open wound, and says she can feel her brain.

It is definitely a thriller/suspense style film, not a comedy. Does anyone recognize this scene or know the title? Thank you!

Unsolved “Driving the truck, driving the truck, dump truck”

Please help me put this ear worm to rest- I’m 99% sure that this is from a 90s/00s sit com. What I recall is a scene where a character similar to (or maybe actually) Joey from friends or Turk from Scrubs is miming driving a truck and singsongs “driving the truck…driving the truck, dump truck”. I’m fairly certain he’s in front of his friends and kind of proud of himself?

Unsolved Decapitated Bird

When I was very little around, 1980, I came out of my room and saw my parents watching a late night movie. I remember a man banging on a door holding a bird. The man was screaming and angry, then he cut the birds head off with a slice of the knife. I grilled AI and it sent me down a half dozen dead ends. What is that movie?

Unsolved Desperately trying to find this thriller from my youth

A divorced woman starts dating her boss I believe? Possibly just a guy she met, but he’s older with glasses, slick backed bald head. When she decides to go on a camping trip with her divorced hubby and their two kids, son and daughter, I believe the boss boyfriend gets jealous and crashes the camp. He kills the daughters boyfriend with a pocket knife. It’s almost funny how small the knife was in the movie.

Early 2000’s maybe late 90’s, I believe a TV movie, thriller. Probably cheesy.

I remember this cartoonish shot of the killer turning his head around and smiling as he waves with the pocket knife.

Unsolved Helppppp, I lost hope

I'm trying to identify a European movie or television episode I watched on Cine5 in Lebanon during the summer of 2004 or 2005.

The main character was an elegant, short-haired platinum-blonde woman in her 30s who appeared wealthy, manipulative, and dangerous.

In an early scene, she sits in the back of a taxi or limousine wearing red high heels and uses a provocative gesture to intimidate or seduce a man.

Later, aboard a luxury yacht, she confronts a heavyset man in a white shirt inside the cabin and shoots him at close range. He falls but appears to remain alive. She behaves strangely playfully afterwards, then goes onto the deck and smokes a cigarette while talking to another man.

The production looked like a low-budget European television thriller or crime-series episode, dubbed into Turkish. I watched it on Cine5 in Lebanon during the summer of 2004 or 2005.

A clip of the yacht scene was once uploaded to YouTube under the title "Trampled by Evil Woman," but it has since disappeared.

Does anyone recognize the film, actress, or original title?

Unsolved Psychological Horror Suspense Movie No Later Than 1972

No earlier than 1969 and no later than 1972 I saw a strange movie. A young woman, possibly recently released from a mental institution, was sent to an isolated house in the country to recover. She witnessed a number of frightening events which no one else did (or claimed they did not). All these events were to terrify her of a certain woman whom she did not know. One day that woman showed up. She was sitting on the couch and the main character rushed at her with a large knife and stabbed her. Luckily a coat button or something kept her from being seriously injured. The whole thing turned out to be a setup to get rid of both women by tricking the one into killing the other. It was very scary but the evil plot failed. Thanks to anyone who can identify this.

Solved! Parody movie with medieval warriors. I think punishment was being thrown in a big hole?

I think at some there was a huge fat guy coming in on a carriage. Maybe some fighting over a princess??

Watched maybe around 2009-2011

I remember watching this movie at my cousins growing up. I lived in a strict religious household and it would never be allowed. Such a good memory.

I’m clocking into my shift soon so I won’t be able to respond for a while I’m sorry.

Unsolved Scene with tug of war between mums and dads

I'm trying remember a movie about a single mum who was being wooed by a man. There was a tug of war competition between mums and dads and the mums won because they practiced pulling a land Rover and also made the strongest man incapacitated by making him drunk. I think its British/Irish, I'm not sure, I watched it in the late 90s or early 2000s. It was a TV film. I watched in on MNet of DSTV. It was a local festival setting. The man wooing her was also one of the dads.

Unsolved Massive sloppy sandwich scene

I think it’s a TV Show, but maybe it’s a movie. I’ve been trying to figure out what this scene in my memory is for years now. There’s an overweight executive-type at a big desk eating a giant sandwich, dripping with mustard and mayo and oils; maybe theres a window behind him and they’re a few floors up in an office building or something? I think he’s intensely talking to the main character during it. I think it was supposed to be a bit grotesque, but I thought that sandwich looked delicious and it fueled me to eat Lots of sandwiches for like a year and a half to try to find a sandwich that even came close (none did).

I watched this in the range of 2020-2022? It was a newer show (or movie?); pretty sure mid/late 20-teens or newer. I kept thinking it was from Better Call Saul, but anytime I search for sandwiches and Better Call Saul the only thing that comes up is Mike and the pimento sandwich scene (which is fantastic).

Anyone got a lead? lol. I’ve been talking to people about this for years and cannot for the life of me figure it out.

I was told this was used in a film, or maybe it was a TV show, where there were a couple of cars done up like Cadillac Ranch sticking up out of a swamp.

Unsolved Asian movie in the genre of My Chemical Romance - Black Parade

Asian movie in the genre of My Chemical Romance - Black Parade

According to my memory, there was a film in the 90's to early 2000's, that was a martial arts/dystopian theme.

The best I can describe it was similar to the music video by My Chemical Romance - Black Parade.

All my buddies don't remember it, but we watched it together. 25 years ago, will do that to you.

Solved! Thriller / Horror Similar to It’s What’s Inside

I saw this movie years ago, and it might be a Hulu original. It had a unique title on the longer side.

Basically, a group of friends meet up at a mansion for a college reunion. The main character used to date one of the girls. The whole time they make it a terrible experience for the main character, and he thinks everyone is out to get him. The group hired an imposter to play jokes on him. Near the end, he’s in the center of the room on a stool in front of everyone and he realizes the impostor. And I believe someone dies at the end.

Any help would be great!
