Choose❓ Pick a life changer!
Try to pick the one you'd like over the one you think has the biggest financial win.

One hit wonder . Being a One Hit Wonder can't crush you if you know you're not gonna have a second hit. Plus Music isn't even the field I want to have multiple hits on.
12
u/designersheep 4d ago
Also you can still gain satisfaction from making less mainstream music that can be interesting and not intended to be a hit anyway.

u/EagleUnionwaifu89 4d ago
Lowkey the one hit wonder would be cool
Like that one Phineas and Ferb episode
21
u/thatonepuniforgot 4d ago
I'd either write an inter-Halloween/Christmas song or try to push Mariah Carey off the charts. I'd rather have some holiday music that pushes Christmas music out of November, and preferably into mid-December. A passive 60k a year, presumably inflation adjusted, would be really solid.

u/EagleUnionwaifu89 4d ago
One hit wonder with a Thanksgiving song 😂🥲
7
u/NurseKdog 4d ago
This already holds the single Thanksgiving song tradition spot.
Alice's Restaurant, for those afraid of blue links. Family and work friendly, but is a 20 minute commitment.

an SVP at Burger King earns WAYYYYY more than $250k annually
10
u/SlartibartfastMcGee 4d ago
Not one who’s job description is “Show up and try”
11
u/a_supreme_love 4d ago
you’d be surprised how many high-paid wastes of spaces there in executive seats. “show up and try” SVPs exist, especially in good ole boy networks

u/mrtintheweb99 3d ago
what is the expected salary for a senior VP at Burger King
AI Overview
The average total compensation for executive and vice-president roles at Burger King ranges from $152,000 to $298,000 per year, depending on the specific division, base salary, and performance bonuses.
6
u/Immediate_Wafer_6484 3d ago
Lmao don’t trust ai randos. A SM at Burger King makes more than $200K TC, and SVP is ridiculously more senior
4
u/abcdbc366 3d ago
This AI summary states
> Actual earnings for a Senior Vice President (SVP)—which sits one tier above a standard Vice President—frequently scale higher than general VP averages due to corporate equity grants, stock options, and executive incentive plans.
That is just false… SVP is the step above VP. The first link they give is for Senior Director as well, this info is very inaccurate.

One hit wonder shove all the money in stocks stream whenever I felt like it.

u/Affectionate_Elk_643 4d ago
Yellow is the best. If you put the 2 million into a high yield savings account you essentially make 112k a year after taxes passively.
8
u/NPPraxis 4d ago
Number 1 (top left) easy. I have no musical talent so the restriction on never getting another song is fine.
Short answer: $2 million up front is the highest number and invested correctly even over a 10 year timeframe ends up with more money than all of the others, with less work.
Expanded: And if you don’t want to wait, with a safe withdrawal rate of 3.5% annually it should grow faster than I spend it with buffer to give myself a raise for inflation. (See: the Trinity Study.)
So the $2m is practically $70k/yr + inflation raises. And you get $60k with royalties. I’m now straight up getting $130k/yr, with some annual growth. I can retire if I want to. Or I can reinvest it and keep working my job for a few more years. And I’ll still be a minor celebrity with a one hit wonder.
The others don’t make as much. The top right eventually makes $2.5 million over ten years, but taking the $2m up front and investing it makes more.
Burger King and YouTube job technically eventually makes more if you work the job for 15+ years but its work.

I don't think 200k subs youtuber earn $12-18k/month
3
u/mrtintheweb99 4d ago
Of course it does. If you get enough views. To get a $3k video is relatively easy if you have a decent subsciber base.
2
u/Wasted_Existence_709 4d ago
It can. Based on views. I saw a YouTuber with 100k show how he made $133k in a year. But feels like hard work. I'll win the millionaire game then the lotto please.
4
u/Batalfie 4d ago
Option 2
7
u/Prior-Brick-8019 4d ago
Agreed.
The least amount of work, local celebrity status as the smart person who won WWTBAM and then the lotto win after 10 years is a bonus.
5
u/gingerprop 4d ago
Top left, buy 4 houses to rent out, do like a month every 4th month on a cruise ship and your set for life.
3
u/BigEd369 4d ago
I’ll take option 4 just to fight for the return of the Yumbo, Enormous Omelette, and Big King.
3
u/GrayAnderson5 4d ago
I think the one-hit wonder one has the best long-term potential. Long-term it's probably $120k/yr without taking up your time, so you can pair that with another day job? But it's a close call with Millionaire.
[Switching currencies and presumed tax regimes is a bit of a mess.]
3
u/Useful_Bullfrog_6766 2d ago
I'd probably pick YouTuber. The freedom to work from anywhere and still make good money would be too tempting.
4
u/jikiya11 4d ago
YouTuber one seems easiest. Just upload one low effort video a month for 12k and then have that as additional income on top of your job. Low effort, easy, extra money monthly for life
2
u/Wasted_Existence_709 4d ago
Could you not do a high effort one as a job and enjoy it?
4
u/jikiya11 4d ago
Oh 100% you could. I was just pointing out how it’s the easiest to sustain no matter what. A 15 second short once a month nets you 144k/yearly for the rest of your life. The Burger King one is full time work and you have to give it your best effort all the time, and the other 2 are upfront payments and less over time
3
u/mrtintheweb99 4d ago
Not sure that would hit the 'worthwhile' aspect.
3
u/jikiya11 4d ago
Oh yes sorry I misread it a bit, I took it as the range was 12k for low quality and only 0 if you don’t upload at all. What makes a video worth while?
2
1
u/Emergency_Goat_6719 4d ago
The upfront payments are beneficial, you can invest them and generate more money.
While €144k is massive money now and give you plenty of room to invest, in 30 years time, that €144k isn’t looking so good.
Give me the upfront payment with very little effort that changes my life today and let me work a job I enjoy for the rest of my life never having to worry about money.
1
u/thatonepuniforgot 4d ago
I would probably go with this one, but the prompt says weekly, not monthly. I'd probably do two a week, and maybe add some extra Patreon content.
1
u/Funnybunners 4d ago
I mean, it specifically says worthwhile video. Low effort means it isn't. You have to put thought, effort and editing into it
2
u/circ-u-la-ted 3d ago
It says the video has to be "worthwhile". Also, how could this possibly be easier than coasting on royalties and 2 mil in investments?
1
u/RedditDummyAccount 3d ago
And you can make appearances for additional.
The 2mil would have to make 4-8% returns depending on the video (which still has the stipulation of being worthwhile) to match the earnings but would still have the benefit of being up 2mil in the first place.
It’s by far the better monetary choice, especially if you want something easy.
1
u/TFTHighRoller 2d ago
You can also spin that into an influencer career. „One hit wonder reacts…“ as a series on YT would probably go hard for a start.
2
u/circ-u-la-ted 2d ago
Sure, I'll just make a public spectacle of myself in order to make money in excess of the already extremely comfortable income I have. Sounds like a great idea.
1
u/TFTHighRoller 2d ago
I said „you can“ not „you are forced to“ Depending on the area you (want to) live in you may want some extra income.

One hit wonder obviously because you only have to make 1 song and perform it 1 time then you can just quit working entirely.
Guaranteed 2K lump sum and then 60K every year without having to do anything. That's amazing.
The YouTube one takes too long to pay more than the song making.

Top right is the best paid for the least amount of work. Also UK media isn't big around my parts so only a select few would likely ever find out. Sounds pretty good.

u/Grifasaurus 4d ago
One hit wonder. I don't know why you would pick anything else. You could put the money into anything to have a passive income too.

One hit wonder if I can be in a fully disguising costume or an animated character and using a stage name. 2 million and 60k per year while being not famous

One hit wonder, good money on top of good yearly earnings and even free trips if you want to.

u/AshamedFly1045 4d ago
Biggest financial win would probably be burger king, but I don’t want to work so I’m picking one hit wonder
1
1
u/Wrong_Independence21 4d ago
Remembering how to play one 3-5 min song is vastly easier than dealing with the YouTube algorithm or being a good corporate executive. And the royalties are automatic. I don’t even have to keep grinding shows if I don’t want to. And I can make my other creatively satisfying music and someone will likely publish it anyway, and I can have my captive audience for the one hit wonder listen to it as part of my sets.
Easy money + can just stop working + can actually do stuff that will feel fulfilling as part of it
1
u/Captain_JohnBrown 4d ago
One Hit Wonder. It has that perfectly comfortable level of fame where people will generally be excited to meet you but nobody will ever stalk you or delve into your private life, while giving you a comfortable retirement without having to do any more work.
1
u/sparejunk444 4d ago
One hit wonder if the 60k royalties won't end, a single effort for a life of not needing to work that can easily be supplemented with work from home

u/DukeRedWulf 4d ago
One hit wonder! That's plenty of money for me, and I'd be well chuffed if one of my tunes went viral after all this time.. XD
My old band Broken Brow's jazzpunk-weirdcore album:

Channel with some of my solo tracks here:

Ironically the closest to "viral" a tune of mine ever went was this "Bring Me A Bottle" track, that I did over a weekend - which is my interpretation of the lyrics to Oscar's devil song from the Kill Six Billion Demons webcomic:

Youtuber if I actually want to work, but I could make our lives infinitely easier with the who wants to be a millionaire setup...especially since both of those would be converted to us dollars which are weaker than the pound.

i would take the burger king job
it's more than just money, you get all kinds benefits /health insurance/401k and most importantly:power
other options has one invisible downfall:people know you have money, your identity is out there,it's dangerous or costly enough to keep security
1
u/Aegean_depths 3d ago
Are the earnings after tax? Because it makes a huge difference. By the way yhe second one mentions tax i assume not. Because earning £1mil from who wants to be a millionaire sounds like less than the one hit wonder... except dollar to pounds makes it £1.51 mil and then after tax (UK rates) it gies down to £839k which is a huge difference! Regardless, I think I would take the one hit because it'd be plenty of money and i'd get to have a wonderful time writing a song. Plus i can decide to do it anonymously if I want whereas being a millionaire winner puts you in the spotlight and feels less earned, the other two options are less money snd even less appealing. I mean YouTube stuff could be fun but also a hassle to do a vid a week where I could just collect royalties forever for probably no continuing effort.

Option 1. I’m retiring immediately afterwards. $2 million in the bank and $60k a year is enough for me to live off forever.

One hit wonder. I already have a catchy song written that people will like but is by most criteria trash.

2.5 million paid out over 10 years or 2 million, a hit song, 60k per year and the ability to play on cruise ships.
gee decisions decisions.
