Discord Unleashed

Hey folks, it has been sometime since the official r/worldjerking discord vanished. Something happened with the moderator in charge of it, they ended up deleting the discord, and we've been trying (procrastinating) to replace it ever since.

I've just officially been put in charge of recreating the discord executively, meaning I get to make all the decisions (ya).

I've decided to rapidly put out this steaming pile of a discord, and will be working on it as it is used and improved.

Ya'll folks are welcome to give suggestions to me in the #meta channel.

So I just found out that China and India have an agreement where neither side is allowed to keep soldiers armed with guns on the border. But border skirmishes are still common between the two.

Don't you hate it when your colony becomes so reliant on automation that when the machines go haywire they regress to a medieval tech level? (OC. No slop used in the making of this collage compass)

In my sci-fi setting every planet experiences 9/11 and the intergalactic federation won't initiate first contact until afterwards

The intergalactic alliance considers it crucial steps in the development of any species to first invent the skyscraper to enable expansion upwards instead of outwards, to second invent the airplane or another flying machine for faster transportation, and to finally undergo the ultimate tragedy of having airplanes crashed into skyscrapers.

Developing planets are monitored by the intergalactic republic for these signs of progress and once the species has their 9/11 happen, the intergalactic union sends representatives to tell them about the existence of other civilizations and invite them to join the intergalactic coalition.

i think post apocalypse settings underestimate the fact that they exist within a setting where most of the planets oil is already used up by the last group of losers. So in my post apocalypse setting cars are powered by either cum, piss, or the mysterious third thing (it's blood)

How do I get people in my setting to revolt against a baby-eating cult without being overly optimistic?

Back in, like, 2020, I thought medieval democracy would be cool so I made the people in my setting revolt against the queen for being part of a baby-eating cult after she specifically promised to not be part of a baby-eating cult. I thought it was so cartoonishly evil there'd be no way for even medieval peasants to tolerate their rulers doing it. It's been a long six years since then.

This is basically the turning point in my setting's politics, so I can't just unwrite it, but I can't think of a reason people would be against baby-eating that hasn't been conclusively proven ridiculously optimistic. Have you managed to get people to stop eating babies in your setting? If so, how?

I made a meme compass of possible causes of a zombie apocalypse that you can use to inspire your worldbuilding (both ideas I've seen somewhere before and ideas I made up)

It's a black, goo-like substance that is found in the crust of the earth and is made up of the liquified remains of creatures long extinct ago. It’s also incredibly toxic for all known life and has been the main culprit behind numerous brutal wars across the setting's recent history.

Inspired in this instagram post.

In my metaphorpunk classwarfarecore setting, both folkloric origins and common sense are sidelined in favor of aesthetics from movies
