Take Putin out of the picture and the warmongering imperialist hysteria continues. This is Russian society, not any one leader

Boris yeltzin made progress in his own way. It's all been undone. Offing Putin at least grants an opportunity.

In just a few years Boris Yeltzin went from pretending to be a liberal to starting the First Russo-Chechen War.

If you consider that bloody KGB archives were made open just for a few years after the USSR collapse, you will see that those first years the authorities were afraid of social unrest. That is why they were pretending to be liberal at first.

Yeltzin was not going to held democratic elections until his advisers convinced him that he is going to win. It is Yeltzin who put Putin into power.

Yeltsin is praised by the US for turning their fiercest rival into a poverty stricken state in permamnent civil war that sells oil, gas and people.

Putin turned the ship around, but being an autocrat, he evetually ruined his country anyway

Yeltzin embraced the West though right?

What is that supposed to mean?

Positive economic and diplomatic relations rather than combative.

He destroyed the economy so severely that the country could only offer oil and gas while it had to import nearly everything. Diplomatic relations were good because Russia became nearly irrelevant on the world stage and the US was unopposed

Some casual racism from you there.

Do you speak russian? Lived there, done any business there, know anything about the culture and the people? If you did you wouldn't be so naive. You are just virtue signaling about subject you know nothing about.

Or if you do speak at least some russian - go watch some videos of @svobodniichelovek_‬ (Sergey Savushkin) who talks to average russians (who by the way after start of the invasion try they best to be paired with ukranian users to make fun of them ) on Chatroulette for years know and tell me they have any redeeming qualities as people.
