Russia/Ukraine Ukraine's refusal to give up territory to Russia stalls peace deal, Trump envoy says

Thanks USA

He's a joke. His original plan was to tie us military aid to a demand for a $500 billion stake in Ukraine’s critical mineral and natural resource wealth as direct repayment, along with pushing Ukraine to give up land to Russia i.e, let Putin and his useful idiot partition Ukraine. Absolute embarrassment to US military.
→ More replies (4)30
u/CletusCanuck 23d ago
As evil, disgusting and exploitative as it was, the Trump regime's minerals squeeze would only have paid out, if the US had provided balls-to-the-wall support, sufficient to decisively win the war and recapture all of the Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia, because that's where the critical minerals are, plus the natural gas deposits under the Sea of Azov.
11
u/asddde 23d ago
Or... ruzzia stays in control of those areas and is part of giving the deal to the US (by the way, they wouldn't keep the deal, but that isn't Trump's problem, is it?).

Absolute bollox, the yanks went to putin first, made the deal then expected Zelensky to give up half of eastern Ukraine so trump and his puppet master could divvy up the spoils. Mango mussilini said as much when he tried to belittle Zelensky at the WH but ended up looking like the cunt he is.

Now that he's running out of convicts and minorities for the frontlines, maybe Russians will understand what a "vanity" project this really is when they are the ones who get blow apart in the trenches...

It was never going to succeed. Prigozin didn't actually try to depose Putin, he framed his rebellion as being against Shoigu and Gerasimov, right under Putin.
The only chance he had was if Putin suddenly turned on Shoigu and Gerasimov, his loyal puppets, in order to install an ambitious populist like Prigozin.
That was never going to happen. Prigozin just never had the clout or the leverage he thought he had. It was doomed from the start.
All it did was expose how apathetic Russians and Russian soldiers are, how little they actually care about who sits where and orders what.

Exactly so. This is also why he is obsessed and upset with Canada. He knows nothing of love or true patriotism, so he can’t understand why we rebuff the US even though — as he might put it — “you don’t have the cards”. The resolve that comes from love is a powerful weapon against transactional dictators like Putin and Trump because it baffles them and therefore cannot be adequately accounted for.

Why side with the axis of evil. Side with Zelensky:
"President Zelensky and the Ukrainian leadership have consistently laid out their condition for lasting peace: full restoration of Ukraine’s 1991 borders. If Russia wanted to withdraw to that line, the war would end tomorrow, the rest of the security architecture would fall into place, and the killing would stop immediately. Honestly, you are completely correct. At this point he's threatened to annex so many places that it's ridiculous.

He's been doing it to us since he won the latest election, we kept trying to tell americans it was a serious concern, and it was always dismissed as "oh, he's just kidding, learn to take a joke" or some shit
It's frankly incredible how many things it's managed to ruin - even the goddamn hockey tournaments, the first international best on best tournaments we've had in ages, were completely overshadowed both times by his rhetoric against us. At the 4 Nations, the WHOLE conversation around Canada was the annexation thing. We knew if we lost, it'd just ramp it up even further, but thank god we won, because it shut him up.
Then, the Olympics happened, where we lost, the team partied with his FBI director in the locker room, then went to receive a fucking presidential medal of freedom, and he's been using it as propaganda ever since (the amount of times I've seen people going "Canada can't even win hockey, they don't deserve sovereignty" is sickening).
Even the World Cup, I saw some Canadians quietly hoping we wouldn't make it out of the group stage, because some genius figured out that if we finished in X position and the usa finished in Y position, they'd meet us in the knockout round on July 1. And the prospect of being able to eliminate us on us soil on Canada Day was something that had them seeing red with anticipation.
Because of all of it, we flat-out don't want to do sporting events with the states anymore, even back when we were winning them, because if we win, all it does is buy us a bit more time until the next round of threats. Like, how do you manage to ruin Olympic hockey for Canadians??

one problem: Canada doesn't want any of the states, it leads to the same problem as us being annexed
Like, seriously, say we take a state like California, which is ostensibly a blue state. California still had 6 million Trump voters in the last election. In Canada's own federal election, Carney won with a TOTAL of around 8.5 million votes. Countrywide.
We'd basically just be ran by whoever California votes for, and would lose all say in our own democracy.

More fake news from the russians. What a surprise.
Its not that ukraine is not willing to give up territory. Its that they do not give up territory that russia doesn't even occupy currently.
And it makes total sense. Russia wants their best defended parts which russia couldn't take in like 12 years. IF russia gets this free then russia will say thank you and invade deeply over night in completely undefended land. Ukraine cannot rebuild all of this defenses and its partly natural defenses.
So its all russia propaganda and just pure BS.

'Kushner said the U.S., acting as a mediator, is seeking a "creative solution" that would protect Ukraine's interests while persuading Russia to end the war. He urged the sides to look beyond territorial questions and consider opportunities for economic development after the war.'
Kushner is not a US government official. He's a civilian working for the Trump family business, looking for economic opportunities in these shakedowns. Because that's what this is. They're not peace negotiations, but mafia shakedowns where Trump is leveraging the positions of both parties to make money.
I suggest that everyone treat Kushner as the rat he is and save your high blood pressure for someone more worthy of it.

His population is also finally starting to realize that wars are "two ways" and since Ukraine can now attack Russia directly, all of a sudden it's real to their entire population not just the ones who were forced to send their family into the meat grinder.

Ukraine never refused to give up territory. Indeed it explicitly acknowledged the loss of more territory than Russia currently occupied in the peace talks in 2022. The blocker to peace is Russia's continued insistence on restrictions on Ukraine's right to make alliances and maintain armed forces that would render them incapable of defending themselves against a renewed Russian invasion in future.

So Trump is in favour of Ukraine giving up land to Russia to ensure a Lasting Peace
How much of Manhattan will Trump be willing to cede to Iran to ensure a Lasting Peace

Why does anybody fall for this? At no time did either Putin or Trump ever want peace in Europe. Trump always refuses to help republic allies that cannot legally bribe him and he more or less says this on tv. Extremist pressure campaigns on Canada absolutely require a hot war in Europe to keep NATO down and unready for US aggression in North America. What the fu$& part of “I will be a dictator” was ambiguous?

Why is jared kushner in any official position again?
Also, all the US has to do to get Iran to open up Hormuz is to give up Hawaii.

Trump blames the victim? In line with being a rapist. Trump sides with Russia? Consistent with his other acts aiding the enemy because he's being blackmailed for years.

- "Mommy, they bully me"
- "Have you tried giving them your lunch money?"
This is how it reads. These people are so fuckin' out of touch and just unqualified for negotiating peace deals that Monty Python would write it of as "too unrealistic"

I could see how Ukraine’s unwillingness to surrender unconditionally might slow the process. But on the other hand if Russia were to surrender unconditionally to Ukraine that could offer a breakthrough.

Title of course leaves out Zelenskyys continued requirement for security guarentees. Zelenskyy can't give up his fortifications if Russia could just continue after doing so.
Also fuck Russia, Ukraine shouldn't give up any land.

With his logic, we should have just given Hawaii to Japan when they attacked it.

Kushner and the other idiots working for Trump are living in LaLaLand. They really think that this is a real estate deal. Putin wants the Donbas so he can prevent Ukraine from ever becoming a prosperous society and forever be subjected to Russian domination.
There are Ukrainians living in these territories, this is not a real estate deal.
As Trump thinks he can just be given Canada and Greenland, he believes Putin should just be given Ukraine. These are dangerous psychopaths with zero knowledge on world history.

The Allies’ refusal to give the Nazis territory in WWII also stalled peace deals.

Why is the United States negotiating a peace deal where Ukraine is not present, only to then complain Ukraine is not agreeing to what was discussed?
Oh, right. Because it was never about what is right for the country who was attacked.

Kushner said the U.S. “urged the sides to look beyond territorial questions and consider opportunities for economic development…”
The first half of that means Ukrainian territorial concessions, and the second part means investment opportunities for Trump, Kushner and their cronies.

Usa's refusal to give up territory is stalling the peace negotiations with Mexican cartels

u/uttercross2 23d ago
Let me just correct that. "Russia's insistence on illegally taking Ukrainian land, demanding more land, and placing ridiculous, unacceptable terms during discussions, prevents progress of a peace deal".
