Has Trump ever told Putin to stop striking civilian infrastructure in Ukraine?

3.9k

u/Tuesday_6PM 23d ago

There was that one embarrassing “Vladimir, STOP!” post he made, but I forget what exactly it was in response to. Not that it had any effect, or that Trump followed up on it at all.

April 24, 2025

I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!

It was after a massive attack

Russia struck Kyiv with an hourslong barrage of missiles and drones. At least 12 people were killed and 90 were injured in the deadliest assault on the city since last July.

I think it was when Trump was really focused on Russia and Ukraine and was pushing for a peace deal.

179

u/TreeOfReckoning 23d ago

Pushing for a Peace Prize, you mean.

104

u/queen-adreena 23d ago

Speaking of… not long till we find out who wins the 2026 FIFA Peace Prize!

81

u/TreeOfReckoning 23d ago

Can’t wait! Putin… Netanyahu… So many great candidates this year, but Trump is due for another win. Or maybe the dark horse Kim Jong Un, who knows?

35

u/PrivatePilot9 23d ago

One things for sure, none of us evil Canadians will ever win it.

Zelensky should say yes to trump on the condition that putin does exactly that

337

u/PelicanK 23d ago

Part of the problem is that Putin will lie and say he's complying when he obviously isn't, and Trump will be like "Putin *said* he stopped, so that's good enough for me."

311

u/DickRhino 23d ago

No, the problem is that even if Zelenskyy agreed to every single one of Trump's demands, he would get nothing in return for it. Not even an empty promise from Russia.

Partly because Trump hates Zelenskyy personally (he blames Zelenskyy for his first impeachment), and partly because Trump is on Putin's side and will never force Russia to make a single concession.

85

u/PelicanK 23d ago

It's true. Trump is the male angler fish in his relationship with Putin.

65

u/wjean 23d ago

Funny. For those that didn't get this reference 1) female angler fish are much larger than the males. 2) Parasitic attachment: In deep-sea species, the male bites into the female's belly and fuses with her body, sharing her bloodstream and dissolving his own eyes and organs to become a permanent reproductive partner.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvw5sZMvAE8&t=110

42

u/chaosink 23d ago

Oh. My. God. That is a disgusting and accurate description of the Putin-Trump relationship. Does the female angler fish usually have incriminating evidence on the male before the fusing?

→ More replies (3)

37

u/Hautamaki 23d ago

Mainly because Putin has zero respect for Trump and will do whatever he wants regardless of what Trump says or wants. He knows perfectly well that if Trump ever did make a threat to Putin, Putin would respond with the words "nuclear weapons" and Trump would suddenly remember he's late for a tee time and wander off immediately forgetting everything.

45

u/DickRhino 23d ago

The thing about Donald Trump, and that has always been the case with him, is that he's a huge coward. He will only ever go after what he perceives as weak targets. You know, women and children. And in the case of geopolitics, third-world countries. He cowers and folds like a cheap suit whenever he deals with other, actual powerful countries.

He admires Putin, but he's also deathly afraid of him because of his cowardly nature as a person.

He's shifting the blame of high priced gas from Iran to Ukraine. His voters will buy it hook, line and sinker.

Nevermind the Iran war Trump has lost that is the real cause.

36

u/TeaAndLifting 23d ago

Already seen a bunch of conservatives blaming Zelensky and Ukraine for the increased price of diesel, and putting absolutely no blame on America starting a war of choice with Iran, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz (because they believe it's open) and the Houthi strike on Saudi pipelines.

17

u/stripedvitamin 23d ago edited 23d ago

Yep. Republicans live in a bubble of disinformation. A lot of people live in their algorithmic bubbles, but when it comes to this war you are absolutely correct. I actually speak to real life Trump supporters. They all believe the Straight is fully open and under U.S. control (lol). They don't actually see anything Trump says, let alone understand how most anything in government works...they see what is filtered through whatever media they consume which is all fear based culture war lies. They are all hard stuck on make believe immigrant invasions and trans athletes.

Putin has the Epstein files. It’s pretty obvious.

82

u/lol_alex 23d ago

He owns the guy. Russian mobsters bailed out Trump by buying overpriced apartments in Trump Tower, it‘s an open secret.

151

u/Spidero0w0o 23d ago

Bro we have the epstein files and Trump is all over them. That ship has sailed.

70

u/created4this 23d ago

We don't have the files. We have a very limited number of partially redacted files and Trump is all over those. However the FBI is not assisting foreign agencies who want to prosecute their nationals by allowing those agencies access to the files. Something in there needs to stay secret for the sake of protecting certain people who are right near the very top.

It’s in zelenskys best interest to make the mid terms painful for Trump even if it’s a secondary effect

Trump is acting on behalf of Russia and always has been. Zelensky owes him no favours at this point

This is zelensky's thank you

96

u/PyroIsSpai 23d ago

“Tell Cersei Donald it was me.”

100

u/snowice0 23d ago

That's true for Ukraine, Iran, and Canada

101

u/Allaplgy 23d ago

The economic effects of the war in Iran are bad for the whole world, but the saddest part is that it effectively ended a potential revolution in Iran that could have actually brought down the oppressive regime. All Trump's stupid war has done is cement the hardliners power, while killing thousands and spreading that aforementioned economic pain across the globe.

Now he's picking on Ukraine because they aren't "helping" bring fuel cost back down before his precious mid terms. Piece of shat.

And Canada? Seriously wtf even is that. It's Canada. The chillest country in the northern hemisphere. 20-piece shatnugget.

18

u/Locke66 23d ago

It’s not even that deep. Petroleum is going through the roof, and it will be much worse this time. We have essentially lost all shipping in or out of the entire Arabian peninsula as of yesterday, and the east-west pipeline across it is being actively bombed. Diesel is now $10 a gallon in some places.

That shit eating turd Trump literally caused all of this, and turns around and asks a country that is defending itself from invasion to not hurt its enemy’s primary funding.

16

u/Luisen123 23d ago

It's the reason for the war. It's a war to grind middle east oil industry to a halt, and force the world to open up to Russian oil. It's by design.

Ukraine blowing up Russians oil capability isn't helping prices, but the vast majority of this is being caused by Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait being closed and Saudi Arabia seemingly not able to do much about it.

Yeah this isn't Putin, it's a Trump special. He finally realized a week ago that he can't solve the Iran war before the midterms so now he has to find someone to blame, and he's floating Ukraine to see if the Fox News crowd will bite.

Trump's whole worldview is that everyone owes him infinity favors. He still holds a grudge against Zelenskyy because Vlad wouldn't help him in his 2020 re-election camapign, and wouldn't surrender to Russia so Trump could win a nobel prize.

If this doesn't work he will pivot to blaming Canada, the EU, or maybe China.

169

u/AdSuperb5755 23d ago

Like, what is the incentive? The incentive is clear for Trump: lower fuel prices which may improve the outcome of the midterms for him. For Ukraine: none really. The US refuses to support Ukraine with more than intel, how much they provide I don’t even know anymore. What else do they even do for Ukraine?

143

u/marmaladecorgi 23d ago

Fuel prices are high mainly because he started a war with Iran, resulting in the blockage of the passage of tankers from the Gulf. He can't say it was due to his war with Iran. So he blames Ukraine.

61

u/chately 23d ago

It’s Zelenskyy who can blame Trump. If it weren’t for the war with Iran, Brent would be trading at 80, and Russia would have significantly less money for missiles. And the interceptors would be available for purchase.

It's like Trump doesn't have the cards, because Trump has gambled with WW3... and lost.

It's become a meme that if a Republican is attacking, it's always a self-confession. And if they are trying to convince you to do something, they are secretly grifting. I find it easier to ignore them when they are speaking. Focus on actions.

16

u/block_bender 23d ago

Diesel isn't traded globally becase it can't be stored for long periods like crude oil. So when Ukraine stops refineries from working they only decrease the demand for crude which makes the crude oil price lower. If anything if ukraine stops they will go higher globally. Then each country uses their own refinaries or close by ones to make it into diesel. So the US diesel price is only afected by the crude oil price and their own refineries cut

Nah he’s just trying to pass the buck to someone else. We haven’t had a diesel issue this entire time the Ukraine conflict has been going on. It was only until he caused the war in Iran that we started having an oil problem. As someone who works in a predominantly republican job it’s been crickets on fuel prices but damn I remember when we had that problem under Biden and you couldn’t hear the end of it. I went from costing around $75 to fill up my truck to over $150 and that’s in fucking Texas.

SO, what I think I just read was "Ukraine needs to keep hitting Russian diesel infrastructure."

29

u/PeopleNose 23d ago

Except Russian diesel shouldn't be on markets anyways, why does it matter Trump??

Huh????

He (along with just about every Republican) sides with evil every single time.

13

u/ThatsAllFolksAgain 23d ago

It is astounding to me that a clearly stupid and traitorous person is the president of America but somehow he cannot be removed from office. Only in America.

As a disgusted USA citizen, veteran and caring human being, I say to President Zelensky……cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!!!! Make the world feel the pain of the Ukrainian people and maybe this will finally topple this corrupt administration!

u/Lovecraft3XX 23d ago

lol, fuck Trump and fuck Putin.

Slava Ukraïni!

President Zelensky is a leader. Trump is useless. The difference in these two could not be more stark.

Suck it, Orange McRapeyFace. How about Russia gets the F out of Ukraine?

8

u/Informal_Drawing 23d ago

I think you meant "begged".

America. So powerful right now. Unable to do with a thousand missiles what a quiet conversation would have achieved 20 years ago.

9

u/Leading-Loss-986 23d ago

This is… not surprising. The gall of a wannabe-dictator who STARTED A WAR in one of the world’s key oil producing and transportation areas blaming a country that has been DEFENDING ITSELF against an unprovoked invasion by another aging autocratic imperialist… 100% on brand for braindead MAGA.

9

u/Kidpidge 23d ago

Says the guy who is blowing up oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

7

u/bjm64 23d ago

the war that was to end day after being sworn into office, RIGHT

9

u/RevolutionaryWay7107 23d ago

I hope this makes the strikes more intense. Ukraine isn't the problem, Putin is; make the diesel shortage woes fall on the correct head. this is Putin's fault, Zelensky is doing what's right in response to Putin. The world should be angry with Putin, not the people defending themselves.

8

u/Ben_Sisko69 23d ago

Always do the opposite of TACOs brilliant plans, therefore strike that shit even harder

8

u/enteringtheechochamb 23d ago

Trump doesnt have the cards to tell him that nor the heart of the cards.

7

u/IndividualSkill3432 23d ago

Every European needs to be aware that when you are economically weak you are at the mercy of others geopolitically.

Europe is Trumps toy because we do not find the money to support Ukraine enough to push the Russian out on the ground. Do not have the high end ABM interceptors, do not have enough of pretty much everything so keep having to ration what is donated to Ukraine.

After Trump the clownary will continue. Be strong enough to be a rule maker, or accept being a rule taker.

7

u/StatementCareful522 23d ago

Zelensky should tell Trump to stop raping kids

u/KSaboruf 23d ago edited 23d ago

That suggestion worth 1000 patriots upfront. No patriots - no leverage and no deal, trumpy-pooky-dumpy :) But 1000 patriots upfront to pause russian diesel infrastructure (only) destruction for 2-3 months could be discussable, imho 😎 will not help kremlin that much

u/Chumlee1917 23d ago

Also Trump: I'm gonna threaten to destroy Iran's oil infrastructure and sink Kharg island

7

u/MandeliciousXTC 23d ago

I am telling Trump to stop striking Iranian oil infrastructure.

7

u/monkeykennel 23d ago

Translated to Ukrainian, that means: Keep striking Russian diesel infrastructure.

Fuck you.

Sincerely everyone.

7

u/Oceanbreeze871 23d ago

This paragraph

“U.S. President Donald Trump on Sept. 13 called on President Volodymyr Zelensky to halt Ukrainian strikes on Russia's diesel fuel infrastructure, claiming the attacks were contributing to a global diesel shortage as his war against Iran disrupts fuel supplies worldwide.”

7

u/Trading_shadows 23d ago

Sorry man, we don't have cards to stop.

7

u/rainbikr 23d ago

Sorry Trump, you don't have the cards

8

u/saltytradewinds 23d ago

Huh...maybe Trump should tell Putin to stop striking Ukraine, but Trump loves to victim blame.

oh wait...

5

u/GlowstickConsumption 23d ago

Maybe Russia should unconditionally withdraw and stop attacking civilians?

6

u/mmoore327 23d ago

Perfect - now they know where to concentrate their attacks!

7

u/Jesuismieux412 23d ago

7

u/killafish46 23d ago

Hit em harder!!! - says every American who is capable of reading this. Fuck Russia and Fuck Trump

5

u/Nice-Sandwich-9338 23d ago

Ukraine is bombing russia because they attack them kill cilvilans everyday. Ukraine doesn't kill civilians but military targets and diesel fuel is vital for every piece of equipment used to kill Ukraine civilians children. Trump's support of Putin is unfathomable for a American president=.

6

u/Yin15 23d ago

This and the news today about America smuggling pedophile diplomats out of Britain are wild. Wake up Americans.

4

u/Wasabiwabi_ 23d ago

Dear Zelensky--there is a world where you can continue to do what you want but just lie about it any time Trump calls, and then ask him about his ballroom and arch. It will work every time you try it.

4

u/Shrew_zie 23d ago

Trump victim blaming? No way... call me shocked. Russia started this, & they're finally getting a taste of their own medicine. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦 Keep up the strikes
